I hope your daughter is improving, Kathryn; your family has had so many misfortunes healthwise.

Unfortunately things aren't going to improve. Still trying to get a diagnosis, so that we know what we have to deal with.

Yesterday I managed to stay on plan all day which is quite an achievement. Now just need to keep it up for the rest of the week.

    Today's plan:
    Breakfast - yogurt and fruit
Lunch - chicken stir fry leftovers
Dinner - Out for a meal. Turkish so meat, bulgar wheat and tomato based sauces so could be worse. Not sure what I'm having yet, but narrowed it down to a few to choose from that will be within my syns

    HAs - milk and cheese
HB - sesame seeds and a cereal bar

Syns - Lunch (1), SF jelly (0.5), rest saved for this evening

I'm glad you have been chatting about yogurts. Yesterday I put in my basket onken fat free strawberry yogurt because *last time* I looked (before Christmas admittedly) it was FREE. Now it's 9 syns ! Won't be buying that again ! I knew muller lights were now counted as syns but I hadn't twigged/realised that you had to be careful with other fat free yogurts too!

So I've got a meal plan of sorts today.
Breakfast was off the cuff and has ended up being coop super seeded porridge pot. It's not on the syns list but using the calculator - this works out at 3.5 syns. I don't trust this figure however because other porridge pots they sell which are on the syns list come out at over 10 syns :(

Lunch is a coop salad pot (lettuce, tomato, red onion and mixed peppers). To this, I've added cheese, ham, spring onions and carrots.

Tea, I'm planning on being jackets, heinz beans creationz Mexican beanz chipotle style with chorizo pouch (need to check syn value) and more cheese and another salad pot :)

Have a good day all x

PS there might be some chocolate syns too but I'll worry about that later
  • I weighed in this morning.....

I had a pretty good week apart from Saturday....I skipped dinner but I lapsed big time. I just had a sweet tooth night. You know what its like sometimes you cannot help yourself.

I had been going through some old papers and letters that I had not got around to looking through since family members had passed. This was not a good idea. Some things I read got me a bit depressed.

Hence, I opened a Lidl Stollen(large) left over from Xmas and a box of Mcvities chocolate biscuits...You know the ones in the blue box with two separate foil wrapped layers....Opened one layer too...

By the time I went to bed there was not a scrap left, and I even washed it all down with a can of Stella. Needless to say I was very disappointed with myself but, as I say if you fall, get up and carry on.

The good news is, I actually lost another -2lb.... 3 weeks and 12lb lighter....:j:j

Well done to everyone whether up or down...We all lapse but just keep going....:T:T

Keep going everyone :) Hope you're all doing well.

For anyone struggling to get back on the wagon after Christmas (it's a hell of a challenge to be fair), try to remind yourself why you do SW in the first place.... that's your motivation. Even if the original intentions have now changed (true in my case), there was a reason you were doing well before Christmas. Find that motivation.

Speaking of discoveries, ALDI are selling Protein Pots for 99p a punt. Not sure how long they've been doing it, but it's an absolutely perfect SP breakfast in my opinion. Eggs are boiled, very tasty and really good for you and spinach is one of the nicer green leaf based veggies, in my opinion. I remember they used to sell these (absolutely identical) for £1.99 in Crewe train station and thinking "why don't they sell these in supermarkets, I'd have one every day"

I believe they're free, but for anyone who also likes to calorie count, they're 129 calories which is higher than some breakfasts, but I'm 100% convinced these will fill you up for longer.

It's all flavoured yogurts that have syns now. I buy plain and flavour it myself.

I like those pots. When I've known I was going to need to grab something quick I have got them in.

    Morning all.

Well done to all the losers and well done CurlGirl for braving your first meeting! Thanks for the heads up about the protein pots in Aldi, Stoke. I'll look out for those - got to be better than yesterdays noodle pot.Marmite, I love your description of a 'sweet tooth night'.

Well and truly got away with it this week with 1/2lb loss, undeserved but welcome all the same! Creeping towards my target for this challenge as usual. .

    Todays menu
B Bran flakes, berries, 0% yoghurt and honey
L LO chicken sausages with salad (freezing here so might change this for something warm)
D At DD1s for tea and no idea what she's cooking - tends to be healthy though.

    Have a good day, everyone.

No idea about noodle pots, but I assume the egg noodle ones are okay? I'd avoid Pot Noodles but Naked Noodles use pure egg noodles with an additional sachet. Take the sachet out, and wouldn't they be free?
  • Speaking of noodles, can anyone shed any light on why pasta is free but super noodle style noodles (i.e. three minute noodle blocks) carry various amounts of syns (between about 5 and 12)? Is it possible that all the syns are in the flavour sachet? I thought the plain noodles with a bit of soy sauce on could make a quick snack in an emergency.

(EDIT - Sorry I've just realised I've said basically what Stoke did above, only in a wordier and more confused way! :o)
