Hi all,
Please tell me if this is the wrong place. I've written a quick state of affairs for my current situation as I need to start saving for a mortgage, or my masters degree (if work aren't funding) either way I need to save.
I've written down my expenditure that I can figure out, but I need to find out where the remaining money is going in January (my last few months have had expensive one offs) and hopefully make a start at saving.

I don't have any debts (excluding my student loan which goes from my wages) so I'm in a good place to start saving.

Where's the rest of it?
You'd be better just pasting it into this thread as text to be honest.
Also - £125 on food just for one person in a month? You need to start cooking big meals that last 3 days and stop eating takeaway.0 -
I don't eat takeaways ever and batch cook most meals which last 2 days, but am recovering from anorexia so sometimes food does go to waste. The food shop also contains toiletries and day to day things. I've only started living alone 3 months ago so am new to all of this.
As I said the last couple months I've had odd expenditure for example £150 on Christmas, £200 on bailing my little sister out (long story and not one I'm going to go into)
I'm trying to manage my money better in 2019 and am writing this thread to keep track of where that extra money goes.0 -
Althought this board has Budgeting in the title that was one of many errors made when the forum was set up and this should really be spcifically for banking issues. You would probably be better posting on the Debt-Free Wannabe board, where budgets are more often considered.0

Do your income/expenditure using this tool.
http://www.stoozing.com/calculator/soa.php
It will highlight things that normally become annual costs like MOT if you have a vehicle, birthdays, Christmas and holidays. By budgeting monthly for everything you create a pot specifically for that purpose. I don't know about you, but I don't get an additional income for one off costs so they have budgeted for somewhere.

No Internet or mobile phone?
To find out where your money is going, keep a spending diary and use a credit or debit card for all your spending.0 -
I did forget my TV licence, phone and internet which totals £35 pcm.
I've started a spending diary today, so hopefully things will become a bit clearer over the next couple weeks.0
