Windows 10 Update constantly failing

Options
Hi

Just a quick question please

I have windows 10 installed on a Desktop on an SSD (OS is on the SSD, most other things are on the HD)

I have tried installing updates as ive not done for a while and i am constantly getting error messages such as
sorry we are having trouble determining if your PC can run windows 10, Please close setup and try again
and also
Something went wrong, error code 0x8007003
N

From what I can tell, it seems windows cant detect some files and i think its because it was installed on the SSD, but im not too sure what to do about it.

I have tried the repair thing for windows, but made no difference, if anyone may know?

Thanks

Have you missed a zero ?

0x80070003? Did you run DISM and SFC?

Hi, yes I did miss the zero

I did run SFC which says it fixed some files but didnt make a difference to the update not working

I tried DISM and it said there were some corrupt files, but didnt seem to fix them (im not too clued up with it to be fair)

I also spoke to microsoft, as im windows is 4 versions behind now, and they had remote access of my PC and said that it seems my PC isn't compatible *thought the update prog has a green tick saying my PC is compatible) and only thing I can do is a fresh install of windows.

Just doesnt seem right to me, but i dont know

Don't tell me that you let MS remotely log on to your PC ?
    BIG mistake !
I let them do this, last year and ended up with a brick that I had to rebuild.

One option that you have is to download the full installation file and install it OVER your existing installation - effectively giving you a fresh Win installation !
Just ensure that you have backed up your files first
There used to be an on-line compatibilty checker - but I can't remember where it was

I did, only as I thought it would be quicker and fix the issue which to be honest i thought was simple

Thanks ill look into it, im sure its more simple then having to do a clean install of windows but he didnt do much other than waht I already tried

We've done this several times at work, and the results have always been positive.

Download latest to media. Goto https://www.microsoft.com/en-gb/software-download/windows10
Read from Create Windows 10 installation media
Then run the ISO from within Windows.

PS. This is an in-place upgrade; as always, ensure any important files are backed up first.

Thanks, thats what the guy from Microsoft did, and it didn't work either

I can only guess, and I might be wrong, I think my PC was windows 8 originally and upgraded to 10 when it first came available, im wondering that has anything to do with it

Do you know if it was an upgrade OR clean install?
