I've not been dieting per se, just cutting down on carbs generally as I've been told I'm pre-diabetic. I havn't missed anything as I still have my slice of toast (multi grain) and swapped to wholemeal pasta where possible

I worry about diabetes too as it runs in my family.

Have you tried any of the pastas made from lentils? I think they taste quite nice, I couldn't taste much difference actually.

    Good morning lovely ladies

Wednesday. I was interested to read about lentil pasta. I haven't noticed those, I'll definitely look out for them. Do you know their WW points value. (I no longer have access to their website now that I've cancelled my membership).

Going to get filthy again today.:rotfl: Going to finish cleaning out the shed and do some gardening. Then I'll get myself cleaned up and go out for a meal tonight with some of the meet up gang. Nothing fancy but should be fun.

It's the 5th anniversary of my husbands death on Saturday. Always difficult. Felt a bit low yesterday but I feel a bit better today. I'll keep busy and try to take my mind off it.

Keeping busy sounds like a good plan LL.:)

Another dusty day here. The plumber worked very hard yesterday but didn't clear everything. Today he's taking down the ceiling (horrible, textured) as it's being replastered. We don't have a skip but one of those big bags. He's obviously done this many times before and knows he can fit the contents of a bathroom in. Tiles have arrived this morning and all the other fittings are expected later. Fortunately everything can be stored in the conservatory which keeps other rooms in some sort of order for us to live in!:)

I went to a meeting and then a quick drink with friends last night. I wore my spotty culottes again. Does anyone else latch onto favourite outfits and wear them again and again? Or is it just laziness?:o I do wash them in between of course.;)

I could have gone dancing last night but after our messy day and my meeting I decided I'd prefer to come home and take it easy for the rest of the evening. That's two examples of laziness. :o:eek:

On the plus side, I did get some more decluttering done yesterday. I have a desk/bureau in my dining room. It's not much use as a desk but it has sentimental value as my grandparents bought it for me when I was a child. I use it to store lots of stationery items, cards, board games, paper napkins and the like. I sorted that and got rid of quite a bit (some bin, some for CS) and also returned some items that had strayed from their proper 'home'. That's one of the things I like about MK that she suggests that all the things in a certain category should be in one place so you know where to find them. Today I think I'll sort out the drawer in the study where we keep all the pens, stapler, paperclips etc. I had that all tidy with pots for everything but it's got a bit of a mess. I'm blaming DH.;) I find that once I've done MK on something I keep it really neat.:)

It's bright and dry here but not over hot. The forecast seems a bit hit and miss at the moment. I think the thunderstorms could pop up anywhere. :)

    :grouphug:

The lentil pasta I bought was made from 100% red lentils so I assumed they were zero. The good thing about them is that they are higher in protein.

It's funny as i was thinking about pasta yesterday as I was arranging my various bags of pasta into glass containers for my store cupboard.:D

I made gluten free spaghetti yesterday for lunch and I didn't have that heavy feeling I get from regular wheat pasta. I think i am going to switch to 100% GF pasta and spaghetti when I use the ones I have up.

I'm going to keep gluten for the things I really enjoy like bread, the occasional pastie or pie etc...:)

No, I do that too. I must wear my spotty, navy blue ASOS dress at least twice a week.:p It's very comfortable and quite flattering so it is a favourite.

Thanks for that Wednesday. Was hoping they'd be zero. Thought they might be.

Just having a coffee and a little break.

I have really bitten a good chunk off that elephant today. Really motoring along with the garden, although I have just cut the lawn mower cable in half. Lol.

Going to be careful not to overdo it though because I want to go out tonight.

I wear my favourite outfits to death. Mind I do keep them a long time, especially my favourite coats. My trench coat has really seen better days and if I'm honest it's actually a bit too big now. But it's so useful, especially with all the recent rain, so I'll hang in to it until I can find a smaller replacement.

Not sure what I'm wearing tonight, it's only a pub meal but I think I will wear a dress. My bargain £1 one from last weeks charity shop haul. It's a champagne coloured lace, again a little loose even though it's only a 14. If i continue to lose weight I'll probably only wear it a couple of times then I'll just donate it back again. Recycling at its best.

A couple of the size 12s I bought are a little tight but half a stone more should see them fitting nicely. It comes to something when I can start getting rid of size 14s. Very gratifying.

Well done on the decluttering Maman. It does feel very satisfying doesn't it.

I love my bedroom now that the horrible big wardrobe has gone, it looks so much better, brighter, lighter and a lot more spacious. It needs decorating and I think I'm going to rip out the dark laminate flooring and replace with the same pale grey carpet I put down in the back bedroom. Need to replace the window first though.

In fact I'll probably run the same carpet throughout the downstairs. Much cosier than the laminate.
  • I lost a post but wanted to say use up clothes as the French YouTuber Justine Leconte details a trend can go out of fashion fast. Wear it and enjoy the complements I really think we don't use all the saved for good items.

Use them now and appreciate things daily. I got a gift of something saved for the last 20 years, I'm grateful for it but really it would have been better to be used years ago.

Always enjoy your treasured items and items to make you smile daily as "for good" is everyday!

Well said SFT. The "best" really is now, after all they call it the "present":rotfl: each day is a gift to be savoured and enjoyed. I have decided that each day i will show up and dress up and I will use my nice things and savour them.

Well last night I wore my lace dress but it didn't feel quite me, The top half is lovely but I'm not keen on the skirt bit. It has something of a "skater" type skirt and it is not really a look that flatters me. I don't think cutting off the skirt and wearing it as a top only would really work so I think I will donate it. I had my £1s with so I'll let it go.

Had a lovely evening and enjoyed my meal and because I had planned for it I didn't damage my diet. In fact I have already lost 1.7lbs of my 2lb weight gain. Happy with that and back on track. Will be going out this evening too but no food, just low calorie tonic water. :rotfl:

Going to look at gas fires and fireplaces today .......need to order soon so we can get that done. My current fireplace is quite pretty but too big for the room and the fire is purely decorative, only about 20% fuel efficient. It gobbles gas. . The fires I'm looking at are 90% efficient. It's a big messy job but worth it. It should make a huge difference both to my comfort and the gas bill. And a smaller fireplace will look better too.

It's all go at the minute....:rotfl:

Totally in agreement with the keeping things for 'best' principle. I'm into dressing for occasions whether that's my 'one mile' clothes or my black tie outfits. The clothes I wear most often have to be the everyday things so I purchase them deliberately rather than pensioning off old work or occasion clothes. When I was working, I always bought jackets, tops, trousers, skirts etc for my work 'uniform' so I don't see any reason to dress in old stuff now.

That being said, I do try to look after my clothes. If I've been out during the day, perhaps for lunch, I'll change into my house clothes when I get back. That's partly for comfort but also to keep things looking their best.

Plumber just arrived. I think today will be more inconvenient as water will be switched off for periods but not so dusty as previous two days. I plan to take my towel under my arm (like in the old days with swimming baths:D) and set off to DDs house for a shower!

We've managed fine so far with the cloakroom. I've been using all my 'best' cosmetics rather than mix and match with cheaper stuff as it's easier to just have a few products to hand.

I'm glad you enjoyed your evening LL. It's not easy to eat out and stick to healthy eating. I find it very straightforward at home to eat without treats (or points or syns as the plans call them) but going out is another matter. I don't mind pushing the boat out for meals I really enjoy but I hate it when a meal is spoiled by unnecessary deep frying or heaps of mayo or a tiny portion augmented by loads of bread. DH had lunch out one day last week and the menu said it came with soda bread. When it came it had been toasted to death and inedible. He left it and explained why to waitress which brought the usual shrug. This was in a fairly high end place in the Pig group. We suspected that the dish should have come with fresh soda bread but they were saving money by toasting yesterday's loaf!

I'll try to do some decluttering today but have to play it by ear. The last big job we had done at home (new kitchen) I went to Majorca for a week and left DH to it. Perhaps I should have done that this time. :D

ETA: I meant to ask if your DS is excited at the prospect of Rooney coming to Derby!:D:footie:
