Sorry I never saw the previous reply.
Its been taken from my debit card that my DD was taken from.
When they said about issuing me a refund, they stated that they couldn't transfer it as they only have bank account and sort code on file, no card details.0 -
To set up a DD they will have had the sort code and account number, not the card number. No fraud, no drama. Its been taken from my debit card that my DD was taken from.

No idea why they cannot refund this way.0 -
You think they've done something illegal? Call the Police then.
The insurers are rectifying the problem. Stop getting your knickers in a twist.0 -

A direct debit uses sort code and account number, nothing else, also a DD can't be taken out before the date the DD is due.
Also on my banking it hasn't come out as a DD its come out as a Card payment, so I will have to disagree with you on that, also if it was a DD payment I could cancel with the bank and there would be no issue.0 -
Are you sure your credit agreement is with Hastings, rather than a third party?0

My issue is how have they got hold of my card details.
If they have used your card details (which you still haven't convinced me of) then it's because you gave the details to them - how else do you think they would have got them? Just because you've forgotten doesn't mean it didn't happen, probably to pay the initial instalment of the policy.
And a DD can be taken before the due date, but if it is you can ask for it to be returned by invoking the DD Guarantee.0 -

I rang the bank to cancel the payment, and they told me it hasn't gone out via DD it was taken from my card.
If they had my card on file to take payment, why have they told me, once on the phone and once over chat, that they cannot make any payments to me, because they have no card details on file so they have to send a cheque.
They are contradicting themselves with everything they say.0
