Hastings !!!!

Sorry if this is in the wrong area.

Good Evening,

I cancelled my Hastings Policy on 1/12/18, I was paying £74.84 per month via DD. Was told I was due a £91.58 refund which will be sent out in the post in 7-10 working days, as they have no card details on file to issue me one via bank transfer.

Today, 27 DAYS after cancelling my policy, they have TAKEN £74.84 from my CARD.

Upon ringing to ask,
  • Why has this been taken?
  • Where did you get my card details from?
  • Who authorized the card payment?
  • Where is my cheque? Which I have been told TWICE is on its way.

The poor woman on the phone was slowly having a breakdown as she was reading my profile and realizing something wasn't quite right, confirming the refund hadn't even been processed, and that a card payment has been taken, she then proceeded to put me on hold while she spoke to her "seniors" 35 mins later none were available, SHOCK, and that "We will call you tomorrow between 0800 and 0830, we will thoroughly investigate this tonight and send a £20 good will gesture either by bank transfer or cheque.

Finance and regulations is not my area at all but can I please get a bit of sanity and someone agree with me that what they have done is illegal please?

Kind Regards,

Luke.

They've made a mistake and are putting it right with a Christmas drink thrown in.

I just find the whole thing confusing.

How have they obtained my card details, why take it out today? My DD come out on the 4th of each month.

    Just stinks, cowboy outfit.

What is payment type reference for the sum they've taken e.g. DD, Debit, Transfer?

I assume the Direct Debit and the "Card" are both linked to the same account?

The card has never been linked to the account, thats the reason they said they were sending me a cheque.

DD was cancelled on the 1/12/18. Due out on the 4th.

Was told that's all I needed to do, as far as Im concerned they've fraudulently taken money without my permission.

Hastings, they told me the policy was cancelled from the day I called and that no further payments would be taken, hence the £90+ refund.

Also sent me cancellation confirmation via email and post.

So why did you give them your card details?

I never, this is the reason I've made the post, it's like they've obtained it from a third party.

If they did have them, how can they legally take a payment without my authorization for a policy that has been cancelled and is in credit, also why lie and say you don't have them when it comes to issuing a refund?

    Something seems off.
