Some more done yesterday
9 last year's calendar recycled
10 paperwork shredded
11 shampoo sample used up and binned.
12 remains of a used candle thrown away0 -
Brrrr it's a cold one this morning!
23. An old pair of steel-capped safety work boots that my DH used to wear when chopping wood. Too worn out to donate so they went in the bin.
24. Cardboard boxes broken down and put for recycling
25. My poor Poinsettia, went to the garden waste bag, don't know why I always buy one, I just can't keep them0 -
Any idea how to get rid of video tapes, some are family type films and films recorded from TV - all respectable stuff. Have made a sort of start, washed a couple of items to put in CS bag and would biscuit tins be good for CS or just the tip, we used to use for buttons etc but not now-a-days. Am trying.
Hi there,
I looked into VHS tapes lastyear. I had 3 types, pre-recorded, blank with nothing on and ones with old TV recordings.
The pre-recorded ones went in the bin. I checked ebay, the charity shops no longer took them and friends didn’t want them. Most were cheap on DVD so I replaced the ones I loved over time.
I also binned the ones with old TV recordings after looking on ebay etc but they don’t sell. I watched some of the ones I taped first and found out the tape ran out half way through some of them - so annoying!
I have a freegle group ( like freecycle ) so offered the blank nothing on ones on there before binning and a nice chap who still uses a video recorder collected them. He didn’t want the others, just the blank ones.
If I had unwanted tins or jam jars or jiffy bags or bubble wrap I’d offer on freegle. Half used cleaning products I didn’t want any more also were collected. The downside of freegle is sometimes people don’t turn up. I will leave the item in a bag if I’m out, apart from on rubbish collection days and then I don’t waste time waiting in for them. It doesn’t cost me anything except the odd plastic bag and if there is no interest in the item I bin it on my next rubbish day with a clear conscience! Here is a link to Freegle. https://www.ilovefreegle.org1 -
Loving this thread.
I have way too much stuff... I sell on ebay and amazon and have lots of books toys etc that have been lying around for quite a while. Made big decision last night and have deleted all my amazon stock. I had about 35 books and sell on average that in a year. With brexit approaching and the possibility of border delays etc I cannot be bothered with the hassle for such a small amount of sales.
My health is not as good as it was ten years ago so its time to really take a long hard look at what I am doing with my time.
I will concentrate on ebay ... I have enough stock I am sure to keep me going for months. I want to be more productive and spend less time searching for said stock... so organisation of the area I keep these items needs to begin. I hope to put out about 4 or 5 bags per week to charity shops.
I have spent last few days picking out bits cardboard, paper and packaging to recycle. I keep these and reuse them for posting books etc. I need to reduce the amount I store to reuse.
I am wasting time and energy looking for things that I cannot find in my house. So drastic action has to be taken
We are in our 50's and would like to downsize in the next 18-24 months. So I have just filled the boot of my car with full bags of unloved Christmas decorations old ebay stock some books and glass jugs of which I have an abundance of. I need only buy what I need and know where everything is when I need it.
So I am logging 5 bags of unwanted items gone from our home. All the best to everyone in 2019 may we have houses that echo0 -
Have sorted through Xmas cards and made labels with them, others in rubbish bag. Woollen dress in charity bag, Xmas decs taken down ready to pack. Box of biscuits ready to give to friend next week. Had new toilet seat fitted so old one in bin along with wrappings. Am plucking up courage to bin long woollen coat and 2 long wrap around coat/scarf things which I like but are winter wear and never worn for 2 winters, into charity bag. The coat is ideal for funerals but black/dark clothes not really required these days so that excuse going. Also some gifts can go in present drawer for re-gifting along with items bought just in case some-one bought me a gift and I needed to give one back (silly I know). At least I have made a start.0

Wow so much activity. I’ve blocked off a week in February to KonMari my home. I don’t actually have so much stuff but it’s very haphazard as to how it’s kept. So a through cleanse and finding a place for everything to live is required. I’m actually very excited :jMortgage so far: £31,630.01Aiming to be mortgage free by 20240

Good Afternoon All,
How's our motivation holding up?
I tackled the inbuilt cupboard today.
One bin bag of rubbish cleared.
4 x Bhf bags filled - sewing patterns, duvet covers, gift sets, craft supplies, towels, teaching resources.
Up into loft to get some boxes for my Freecycle items being collected tomorow. Found D'S wooden toy garage and front facing bookcase. Whacked both up for free on FB. Bookcase claimed and due for collection tomorrow.
Listed for sale D'S old ice hockey skates. Will donate anything not sold by Monday just to get it out the house.
Also finally hung wall hanging that's been sitting in corner of bedroom for almost a year!Wealth is not measured by currency0 -
Hey everyone, it’s bloomin freezing out today.. not helping my poorly sinuses that’s for sure..
Have pottered about doing various bits in between resting (& setting up my new IPad:j)
1 box of overly smelly candles, woolly dress, Christmas plant pot all gone in a bag for charity.
Lots of cardboard in the recycling, bubble wrap saved.
Sorted through tin cupboard and other food store, only a couple bits out of date, the rest I have sorted and put a chunk of the tins in a bag for the homeless shelter.
Topped up bicarb pots (one for bathroom, one for kitchen) from the 5kg tub.
Needing a nap, head on fire, eye feels as if it may pop out:eek:
Thanks for all the motivation, its kept me going when I least want to!!"There's a little witch in all of us"🔮🪬🧿DEBT FREE 06/2018Mrs SD’s Decluttering 2025 ⭐️ 🥇0
