Hi,
Just wondering what normal credit limits are and what sort sort of amounts forum members have been offered? I understand some providers can be more liberal when dishing out...
Be interesting to see if mine are on the average, high or low side
Merry Christmas

just wondering what other forum members are offered or have got?
I've got 20k on an Amex, £22k on MBNA and B/C. Be interesting to know where they sit?0 -
Why?
What are you hoping to gain?
Limits vary from person to person and what ever limits you get told here might no be the original limit but one after an increase0 -
I got £1500 for my first CC and a year later £1400 for my second. Pay them both off in full each month.
Would like to get a money transfer card for £4000 in a few months time but not sure what to do to increase the limit offered.Debt Free: 01/01/2020

£20K and £22K are pitiful; you really should be asking for an increase!0

I know somebody who has a £50 limit on Halifax. I believe they reduced it to that level from £300 after he got into trouble. Most months there is zero spend, but he puts the occasional transaction through.0 -

Most of mine sit in a locked filing cabinet these days.
In terms of limits, I have had £24,500 on MBNA. That was some years ago and they told me on the phone that was the maximum they would give because £25K was a CCA limit and they allowed a buffer.
We've heard of people having higher limits since, though it's not common.
I later got a new MBNA card and transferred some limit over. When I closed the original card the new card started getting limit rises and now stands at £22K. That is despite never having more than a couple of thousand outstanding.
I have £15K to £20K on most of my "mainstream" cards - Lloyds, Natwest, Barclaycard. But only 12K on BA Amex.0 -
I had a capital one luma card in 2012 which started out at 200 pounds...
And I closed it in early 2018 and still only had the 200 limit....they just wouldn’t increase it.....during the card ownership time I had applied for and got other cards with limits of 4K and above.
Strange how the credit limit system works0 -
My credit limit is embarrassing- £600
I’m probably going to pay it off and close it soon though.
OH has a Platinum Barclaycard with a 2.5k limit. I don’t know anyone with a really high limit- my mum has a NewDay Debenhams card with 5k limit but even that is paltry compared to some.*The RK and FF fan club* #Family*Don’t Be Bitter- Glitter!* #LotsOfLove ‘Darling you’re my blood, you have my heartbeat’ Dad 20.02.200
