  • Sounds like you're doing really well Aaleigha. Keep sorting and decluttering. The more you do know, the easier the unpacking will be in your new house.

The homemade socks sound lovely and I think will outlast anything you could buy. Hope you're keeping well x

    Yes am keeping well thanks

    good house news
only one hurdle left we found the vendor had not registered the septic tank so just waiting notification that has been done and we are in to sign contracts

sort of cant wait but also panicking a bit

as for decluttering its going well

and at the other end if we cant find a home for it it will be sold or donated. I am no longer going to have a house full of rubbish - I am however getting some of my Nans stuff some made by my dad and her old beautiful dining room table (that will go in the annex)

looking forward to going but a bit worried about learning all the new things heating oil etc but after this year all that will be easier and I will finally know what our bills are likely to be which would be really helpful as then we can budget properly at the moment I am trying to save for heating oil and pay the gas and electric here

hopefully we will be out of debt by Christmas and only have a small mortgage to pay off it will be a lovely postion to be in - now to knuckle down and get on with it :):)
    Emergency fund £10,000

I think you're right, it does take a year to adjust to new running costs when you move. I'm sure you'll be fine once not paying/saving fir two houses worth of heating. My dad always buys his oil in the summer as slightly cheaper.

I'm a secret hoarder too abd am emotionally attached to a lot of junk. I've been more ruthless now in our forever home, but could decluttering more. It's lovely you've got done family pieces though.

Wow out of debt by Christ as woukd be amazing especially after moving house abd change in income. That's a great target abd one I'm sure that'll keep you motivated!

Morning Aaleigha. Hopefully not long now until the contracts are signed. Exciting times ahead for you and even if it does feel a bit daunting at the moment, I'm sure once you're there and getting on with things you'll be fine.

    Have a lovely day. x

    thanks

hopefully we finally have our BT line sorted they are taking a % off our line rental for the next bill

so we finally have internet again

no new news on house front

but we are making small steps closer to having an emergency fund

only going to whisper this but hubby has had no further parking tickets come through (I bet they all land on the mat tomorrow)

but now I am hoping we have the money in the bank to cover them well at least two more

if anymore do come I am going to query them as the regisered owner as I certainly wouldnt be visiting mother in law :rotfl::rotfl:
very long story to that one so wont bore you all

we had £250 in grocery money on the first of the month and at the moment we still have 50+ left so hoping to have saved some of that by the end of the month
also some of the dog food money - no I havent put them on a diet

    so now real news yet

spending the day tomorrow having an araromathery massage (treat from daughter for dog sitting) then round hers for the rest of the day for lunch and more dog sitting

hope you have all had a few good days

Lots of positives there Aaleigha. Internet back, EF building up, shopping within budget and no more parking tickets...... fingers crossed ;):rotfl:

The aromatherapy massage sounds wonderful, what a lovely gift from DD.

Hopefully you'll have some news on the house front next time you post. Have a lovely day. xx

    thanks Jwil it was fantastic

Tea I paid for one for daughter - we always try to spoil one another now and then as total surprises I also gave her and her partner their birthday money early one is 13th feb the other is 13march as they have booked Rome and they have now been able to pay in advance for a couple of sites and two days off roaming bus tickets

so I have told solicitor I would like completion for 4 5 6th of Feb
and we will move very shortly thereafter depends on when we can book removals a friend of our sons works for them so hopefully it wont be too long apparently its not a busy time for them

as its Wales and Chwefor (February - so someone on here has told me) who wants to take bets on snow on moving day I say snow its bound too as motorway driving is not my favourite and we have about 75 miles of it to do but as there are more than one car going we can go in convoy and I can be in the middle :) cant get interchanges wrong then

I will drive on key picking up day with hubby anyway

I think February will break ALL budgets so to be honest I am not overly worried I will just pick budgeting up again come March but will budget just to see how much over budget we go - should be fun anyone want to put overspend guesses down

right I know I have not visited you all for ages so going to try to catch up during next few days but will come bearing gifts of home made cookies and fresh brewed coffee or tea to share (need to get the baking cupboards emptied as much as I can)

sort of excited sort of scared
