No more shopping until February’s budget so am declaring January grocery spend £231.37 out of a budget of £250 .Really pleased with that and have put the remaining £18.63 into the bulk buy fund .
  • Still breaking the budget here

Spent £2.19 at B and M since last posting. £9.09 at Morrisons, 50p at work and £9.46 at Aldi.

    So total of £21.24

Hoping not to spend in work tonight, unless there are any bargain bits of fruit and veg reduced.

Tried the Gardein Sizzling Scehuan strips today. Although very nice, i am not sure i would go out of my way to buy them again. I made some noodles, peppers, spring onion and mushroom in soy sauce and then had these on top. Maybe if they ever go to half price i might consider a repeat purchase.

Declaring belatedly spends over the weekend at Ald1 of £18.34 and £1.50 on bacon at Tesc0 (desperation) and cat food and treats at h0me bargains for £3.10.

Made a meal plan with the intention of using up as much of the bits in the house as possible and I'm doing OK so far. Back at work yesterday so not wandering round the shops aimlessly!

    Nearly February!

  • And I'm over with two days to go

I think I need to get into a much better routine. But I've been saying that for about 15 years :rotfl:
  • Well we did it, that's the royal we as l seemed to be the only one making any effort. Slipped a bit towards the end but came in at £186.00 not too shabby and can do better l'm sure x
    Count down to retirement 2023
  • Apart from the usual fruit, veg, milk and bread, I indulged in bacon at £2 so I'm over budget by 11p. I'm going to set a more realistic budget for February now that the cupboards and freezer have emptied a bit. Though I still have a lot of HM soup in the freezer.

So declaring for January at £31.11/£31.
  • Ooooh isn’t January a long month, my final spend = £3.30, (pack of garlic bread slices £1.75, 1pt milk 0.49p, a leek 0.38p, broccoli 0.68p) that takes me over budget by £6.26. but at least I shouldn’t need to shop for about a week.

I need to go make up a meal plan to make the most of what I have in, using up the last of the mushrooms tonight I'll make chicken and mushroom lasagne with broccoli & garlic bread.

Well done everyone see you in Feb.

    Hi guys
My January spend has come in at £152.02, with my cupboards full to bursting. We can easily go for a few weeks with only needing fresh stuff top ups if necessary.
I’m gradually working my way through the frozen fruit and veg department trying different foods to cut down on waste. I’m finding it easier to eat healthily this way too as I never feel like preparing veg when I come home from work and it lasts longer and doesn’t go off.
I must admit the freezing process has really improved over the years.
    Anyway better go
    Keep warm guys
