  • Payday on friday and ive got no reason to go in a shop now. Ive spent 485 out of 433. Ooops.
On the flip side and i know this is creative accounting but ive only spent 321 since 1st jan and im recording all spends in relation to the frugal 2019 thread. Im aiming continue in and hope to be less than 433 by end of month.

June 25 Debts in my name only £5170. DH can't keep track...
  • I have bust the budget today unfortunately. Spent £21.90 in Aldi bringing total to £259.97/£250not going to get my knickers in a twist over it though as we have all eaten from stock for all 3 meals and snacks this month . 3 adults so not too bad really
5 Year plan. April 2020 to June 2025- CC and mortgage free by time I'm 60
    Currently CC £23,674.36 /£14,895.41/£14315.42
    Mortgage £28,214.65/ £26,254.71/ £25,746.43
    By end 2020 I want CC at £ 19,000.00.
By end 2021 I want CC at £10,000.00
  • I've well and truly blown the budget but I decided to use a £15 off a £100 spend voucher to stock up on bulky things so I've got an order coming tomorrow which will be costing me £85.53. I added some dried milk to the order so that if I run out of milk the day before the milkman is due to deliver some more (like today for instance) and the weather is horrible (also like today) I can make myself a cuppa.

I'm allocating myself £5 to last the rest of the month for any necessities and then next month I will be a whole lot more disciplined.

  • I plan on joining this thread in February. I live alone and my food bill is not so bad. My DD and DGD will have moved close to me before the beginning of next month and I will be doing meals for them too. I am going to use this thread to see how much my shopping bill increases and how I can look to feed us all well but as cheaply as possible. I think having to be accountable here will help.

    Great thread!

God grant me the serenity to accept the things I cannot change, courage to change the things I can, wisdom to know the difference.

I’m thinking about investing in a soup maker and an air frier. I had gone down to as few gadgets as possible. I may leave it a bit longer and see if the idea dies and if not will start doing my research for the best one and then wait for a good deal.Cuddles

Can't comment on the soup maker but I got an air fryer recently and find it really useful as I realised I was putting on the oven too often for "bits". The air fryer works out much cheaper, so now the oven only goes on if I can fill it. ;) Plus, I don't like cleaning the oven! :D

I’m guesstimating what I’ll need. I could, in theory, see what I consume in a month and then stockpile in March, but that feels a bit too close to the B date for me.

I did a similar exercise last year to give me a better idea of what I was spending and on what, and found it very helpful. But, if you're comfortable with your guesstimated spend, can afford it and have the storage room, then I'd go for it now. You'd be prepared and probably save dosh in the long run. When I did my online order this week and checked my Favourites list, I found no less than 7 items had gone up since the beginning of the year and now cost 80p more. Why do I get the feeling there will be more to come? :(

Online order arrived yesterday and, after stripping out household/cleaning/toiletries/OTC meds, the grocery spend came to £47.95. My winter/B-stock is now as full as I want it to be (barring any bargains I might come across :D ) and I have £18.47 left in my January budget. I still have a week to go and don't think I shall need anything else but I'm not declaring just yet. I've kept the £3.47 in my purse and if the other £15 stays intact, it will go in our holiday pot. :)
Be kind to others and to yourself too.

Merlin’s Beard I just don’t want to throw money away or end up with ridiculous amounts, as I’m guesstimating what I’ll need. I could, in theory, see what I consume in a month and then stockpile in March, but that feels a bit too close to the B date for me. :o

 at the £100 on gin, but as you’ve said, if you have the money to spend and the space to store it, and were planning on buying it anyway, that 50% off sounds like a bargain! :T

    It sounds bad, I know!

But... £60 for a gin calendar (of which I still have 19 bottles from 24) to let me try a lot of different things (and a bit of a treat for staying within yearly budget :D). Then, I've been eyeing up the craft gin club's "first box for £29" for months, so when they offered 2 boxes for £20 each on a flash sale, it seemed daft to say no.

I'm still working my way through the 12 bottles of wine I bought on offer last Christmas, I'm not actually as bad as I sound, just a sucker for a bargain :D:rotfl:

I had to take some clothes back to Sainsbobs yesterday (wrong size gifts) so ended up with a gift card for £23.50. Spent this plus £16.99 on DS1's birthday tea and some bits for stores, lunches, ys meat, a haggis and more blooming milk!

Total for the week so far (hopefully only milk to buy tomorrow) £52.05.

£5.06 in Morries, was over that way so picked up an Amazon gift card, gets extra points, a few bits in my Amazon basket, coffee pods for my friend, total of bill was high but grocery only as above, and all yellow sticker.
Do I need it or just want it.
