    Grocery challenge:December 2022 £151.96/£400 . Advent decluttering challenge 47/240.
  • £7.07 spend so £102.43/£200 so far - my new month starts on Monday so I should come in well under budget which I'm really pleased with after an expensive Christmas! :):)
  • Eventually get a chance to update last weeks spends.
    MRTEE ..... £43.14
    Lidll ..... £22.62
    Local shop £ 8.09
    Veg/deli £12.44

A total of £86.29...we had a treat of a take away on Saturday which was lovely and we all enjoyed it ... cost £10.80

So last weeks spends were £97.09
I bought quite a bit of fish as we are trying to eat more of it and I was able to feed another member of extended family 4 meals.

This brings our monthly total to £264.08/ £390..happy with this.
I also have been able to cut back on car fuel and no major spends at all.
Feel a bit more in control of my money :)
I hope to come in under budget and to continue into the February challenge. :) All the best we are on the home straight now !

    Good morning all,

Hopefully my food shopping is now finished for January. Yesterday I went to Home Bargains (foil and posh cat food), Iceland (SW friendly dhal - I love it and one tub does 2 meals and yes I will learn to make it myself this time :D ), Sainsburys (with my voucher and only bought stuff that would be roughly the same price in Asda or no point using a money off voucher) and Asda (for the stuff that Sainsb's didn't have).

My total spent was £47.22, I have topped up the freezer restock fund and the celebration fund by £5 each and I'm left with the grand total of £2.80 in my grocery shopping purse. I'm happy with that. Keeping the freezer restock and the celebration money separate is really pleasing me as usually any left over grocery money just gets absorbed into general household money and then vanishes. I'm liking the feeling that having a little safety net gives me. Mysteriously the freezer is as full as ever. I'm not sure how but when I take things out, somehow the rest of the things in a drawer seem to rearrange themselves to fill the space.

thriftwizard I hope you're feeling a bit better after your hospital stay?
  • Hi folks. I have about £8 left in my grocery account but that should be fine to see us until pay day. I have dinners and lunches sorted for the rest of the week and I get paid on Thursday and OH is paid on Friday.

I will be signing up again for the next GC but am going to increase my budget to £200. This is partly because we need to stock up on some basics (like flour, tin foil etc) and partly because I want to focus on buying more fresh fruit and veg.

    Hi guys
Just checking in. £107.17/£2000 so far. I don’t need to do a big shop this week as cupboards and freezer were full to bursting.
I will need fresh fruit, veg and milk before next week but apart from that that will do until middle of next week when I do my online shop.
It’s freezing here so tonight’s tea will be tuna pasta.
I’m thinking about investing in a soup maker and an air frier. I had gone down to as few gadgets as possible. I may leave it a bit longer and see if the idea dies and if not will start doing my research for the best one and then wait for a good deal. We do use the oven a lot which isn’t a problem in winter but we only have a very small flat and it gets very hot the rest of the year. Anyway we will see.
Well done guys, it’s amazing how a little support can make a difference to your spends. And so much can be done with the saved money.
Anyway time to go to work

Popped into MrT after doc appoint for milk (i'm sure DH breathes it)

Anyway i spotted some bootie slippers for DD to replace ones i bought her for Christmas. Unfortunately she decided to take the tags off before trying them on, they didn't fit. So i will be using those eventually.

So £8.18 to add to totals, will do that now.

    Have a great day all

  • I have just spent &21.80 in Aldi making my total £107.60/£100 with 9 days to go.

I bought: 8 baking potatoes, celery, leeks (yay), Angus diced beef, 2 x plum tomatoes, carrots, 2 avocados, 3 onions, butter, cheese, 3 x fisherman’s pie, bottle of beer (for stew), 3 x cream, 12 eggs.

    My meal planning is:
Breakfast: porridge with cream and 2bananas in a smoothie (more of these in the day instead of coffee)
Lunch: scrambled eggs, tomatoes, mushrooms, peppers. (On gym days) baked potatoes with baked beans and cheese and butter plus Hm soup. Avocado with balsamic vinegar.
Supper: 4 x stew, maybe more if I add lentils. 6 x ready meals with veg and cheese. Pasta and pesto but I have gone off that. The last pasta tasted gluey.

I also bought long johns (2 for £5), industrial kitchen roll (£2) and £2.37 shampoo and conditioner.
  • I missed out the mushrooms. I am way over budget.

I could try tuna and sweet corn with baked pots (protein) and more soups.

My spending doesn’t include baked beans, coffee, oats, sugar, tinned tomatoes which I have in.

I could try Greek yoghurt for some breakfasts...

If I stop smoking I would save £22 paw...
  • Had a Sainsbobs order delivered today £44.94. Do have a small list of things to get from Mr L, it can wait though.
Have a poorly DS2, dosing him up and making sure he has lots to drink.
Will add to my total in a mo.
