I love walking but I don't do anywhere near enough of itI will set my target at 1000 miles and see how it goes
I have a sedentary job but also have two allotments and plan on moving house in 2019 so there shouldn't be any reason why I shouldn't achieve that
Being a sadsack, I've just counted up the mileage that my phone recorded in the last 12 months and it came up at 717 so a target of 1000 miles is perfectly achievable
Good luck everyone!Dizzy_Ditzy wrote: »Just thought I'd pop by with an update - this year has truly sucked - my brother was diagnosed with terminal cancer at the same time as I changed jobs and I didn't move house.
However, I have finally got my act together and my new job is walking distance from home. Even with driving most of the way to work, I would walk about 3 miles a day. A couple of weeks ago something went ping in my head and my mojo was back. I signed up for Race At Your Pace which is a virtual race and if you achieve your target, you get a shiny medal (of course you have to pay for it :rotfl:) I bought a new Fitbit and this month so far I've walked 75 miles :j I've started walking to and from work and manage between 6-10 miles a day :T
I'm pretty sure that I'll not hit my target this year but I'm ok with that. I've arrived late to the party but better late than never :rotfl::rotfl:
Well I've managed three months of RAYP - 200 miles of October, 125 in November and I think 100 for December - I aimed low, hit that and upped my target but I can't remember what I upped it to :rotfl: ah well, it will be a nice surprise when the medal comes through :rotfl::rotfl:

I've not met my original target of 1000 deliberate, outside miles - I made 630 miles instead. My app has been a bit hit and miss as to whether it recorded my walks or not... Still, I'm certainly not unhappy with that total and will keep my target the same for 2020. I've still claimed my virtual runner 1000miles medal as I completed 1400 miles in total over 2020 according to my fitbit. I'm thinking of signing up for the annual virtual runner challenge where you pick your target each month (25, 50, 100 or 200km) and the individual monthly medals combine to make one big annual medal. It's not the most money saving method I could opt for but I find medals highly motivating, and at £10 a month, it's way cheaper than a gym membership would be!MFW2023 challenge #99: £1090.11 / £1,000 MFiT-T6 (Jan 2022 - Jan 2025) challenge #99: Reduce mortgage to £400,000. My original total was 1750. In October I changed that to 2000 miles, after better than expected results and I have finished the year on 2121 miles.
Happy New Year everyone!
