I've got a little interest in Taylor Wimpey as well. Also bought some JJb and a firm called Intec telecoms systems.
Main holdings in RBS at the moment although I see that as a 3-5 year hold.0 -

good luck folks ;-)
is there any other newbie forum share buyers
buy and sell quickly when they see a profit?
or do you prefer to buy and forget them for a year or so
Thanks In AdvanceOh well we only live once ;-)0 -
I think generally the advice is not to day trade. I read that statistically, you're less likely to make money as it's very hard to call quite what a share is going to do on any given day. That said, with the current volatility I've been quite successful doing that with BARC.
I have been caught out a few times and don't plan on doing this long term though. The other shares I have bought, I've pretty much left alone and they seem to be doing quite nicely (except ARM -don't ask me why I bought into them! The graphs were looking good at the time).0 -
I attempted day trading when I started too but it didnt work for me (sold then bought back in as the shares were going up an I didnt want to miss the boat.)
All my tradings done in an ISA so i'm not able to buy into a lot of shares too.0 -

hi there,
tried opening a hoodless brennan account over the weekend, but its still not happenened, they say they've had probs with the systems! haven't they allways! anyway got the hump with them now, so looking at the share centre, share account, without trader option.
anyone think this would be a good option for beginer, starting with less than £1000ish, perhaps couple of trades per month.
i think on price it stacks up, but looking for opinions on ease of use etc.
and, if i'm correct, is hoodless brennan instant transactions whereas others may not be, and if this one isn't, how long is the delay? and will it be of any significance?
thanks in advance
bockster.
I don't think HB is the most reliable of brokers. I recently opened an account and on my first attempt to trade got an error message and the advice to call the help desk. I was told this was due to a "busy trading day".0 -
Which newspapers/magazines/websites are generally regarded as the most spot on for share tips?0

None of them, they are all retrospective afaik. Good for general research but terrible on timing0

Hello
I have opened up a online Hoodless and Brennan account( only took 30 minutes ) and have about £1000 to invest. What areas should i be looking at and if there are any companies i should be investigating to buy in the next few days. I want to spread it out so up to 30% company. I understand that any names that people give out are my job to look into fully and my risk to take.0
