so, are we able to deduct all charges relating to sharedealing in that tax year from the profits made and then see if we are above or below 9.6k?
and, if above 9.6k, are we charged cgt on the whole lot or just anything above?
Your fees and stamp duty etc don't count. If your gains for the year are below 9.6k then you pay nothing. If you gains for the year are above you pay 40% of anything above 9.6k, not your total gains.0 -

Current Capital gains, the percentages you guys are talking about are outdated, costs of trading such as commisions would be deducted afaikHope for the best.....Plan for the worst!

hi there,
tried opening a hoodless brennan account over the weekend, but its still not happenened, they say they've had probs with the systems! haven't they allways! anyway got the hump with them now, so looking at the share centre, share account, without trader option.
anyone think this would be a good option for beginer, starting with less than £1000ish, perhaps couple of trades per month.
i think on price it stacks up, but looking for opinions on ease of use etc.
and, if i'm correct, is hoodless brennan instant transactions whereas others may not be, and if this one isn't, how long is the delay? and will it be of any significance?
thanks in advance
