Anyone know the cheapest provider of live prices?
It would be a bit of a luxury just now (minimal trading) but wondered if anyone knew any cheap sites.0 -
You could try ADVFN, not sure what the prices are, if you already trade, does your broker not provide streaming quotes?scotsman4th wrote: »Anyone know the cheapest provider of live prices?

Yes, its just that I like the live prices. I just dont know if I can justify the cost (ADVFN £11.95 plus vat per month). If I was able to get it for under £10, I'd probably go for it.0

That sounds very cheap for live pricing, if you are haggling over a couple of quid you are not trading often enough to use it I guess.
It isnt the real price but you can get a spreadbet account for nothing and that'll show something not that far off the price0 -
That's what I was asking, sorry Streaming quotes are live prices, I was asking if your broker does not provide these? Frankly unless you are a trader, live / streaming quotes aren't really any use to you.scotsman4th wrote: »Yes, its just that I like the live prices. Apologies, I thought streaming quotes were the ones that were 15 mins behind.
As far as trading enough, I'm just finding my feet and have traded quite a bit (in my eyes anyways, buying rubbish and selling it again, messing about with stop-losses and moving stop-losses, moving over from trading account to self investing ISA) So about 43 trades in 3 months. Dont know if this is a lot or not.
I see what you mean by the quibbling over a couple of pounds. I was probably going to go with the ADVFN anyway's, it was just to see if theres anything cheaper.0 -
No worries mate, they should be referred to as delayed, but it's always worth asking, sales pitches are sometimes economic with the truth, Streaming quotes should be live.scotsman4th wrote: »Apologies, I thought streaming quotes were the ones that were 15 mins behind.
If that is round trip, I'd say it is pretty active for someone just finding their feet, if you hadn't mentioned an ISA, I'd have suggested you might want to look at a decent broker, but the one I had in mind doesn't do ISA's and do not know your objectives.scotsman4th wrote: »As far as trading enough, I'm just finding my feet and have traded quite a bit (in my eyes anyways, buying rubbish and selling it again, messing about with stop-losses and moving stop-losses, moving over from trading account to self investing ISA) So about 43 trades in 3 months. Yes that is a reasonable price if it is something you need.scotsman4th wrote: »I see what you mean by the quibbling over a couple of pounds. I was probably going to go with the ADVFN anyway's, it was just to see if theres anything cheaper.Hope for the best.....Plan for the worst!

I want to open an online share dealing account. After doing a little research I am considering using Hoodless Brennan, I read on this forum that an inactivity fee may be charged, but I cannot see this on their website this may be a consideration as I do not intend to make many tansactions. I was also a little concerned to read on the forum about the delays on the website during high demand periods. Can anyone advise/recommend. Also is it possible to transfer into the account my existing paper based shares? Can anyone recommend an online broker? Many thanks.0

There don't appear to be any inactivity fees with this broker, looks like they simply charge a slightly higher transaction fee for infrequent traders.

It would also appear you can send in share certificates.
