Thank you very much!

I had National Grid at the top of my list until about a month ago, when Centrica's drops seemed to maybe make it a better bang for my buck, possibly, perhaps, despite the future regulation risk. NG was 855 this time yesterday, it's now at 840... I'll cross my fingers for another mild drop before I invest next week. If NG bumps up, but Centrica doesn't, I'll grab Cenny. If they both shoot up... I'll probably just have a little cry.

Well personally I wouldn't recommend that a new UK investor buys shares in a private unlisted Canadian company, for which there is little information on the internet.

If you are tempted by this odd recommendation, you could do worse than to Google "Jawad Rathore", the President and CEO of the company. You will find references to his disciplinary hearing before the Mutual Fund Dealers' Association of Canada, who fined him $25,000 for misconduct. He was also involved in a $3M settlement with the Ontario Securities Commission in 2011 for alleged irregularities.

And while I am sure that Hannah Joseph is well intentioned and above board, its also a good idea to be cautious when looking at posts from newbies.

Nick, You are right. I googled about him and came across this article about Jawad Rathore. He surely has been among those guys who are involved in illegal activities. The fine was $250,000 I suppose. Pheeww! that has blown my mind.

NG are also active in the US, so they've also got diversification outside the UK. NG are in regulated areas everywhere they operate, so it is a trade off between more certainty (their UK regulatory agreement looks to run until 2021) and what is essentially more political control.

I know CNA sold some of them but I think it had more assets outside UK then NG. They have a nice import deal from usa to uk, one of the first available
