My partner has just finished a sharesave scheme and requested the money converted into shares. Computershare say that they have issued a certificate however we have not received it. Now computershare say they must cancel this certificate and issue a new certificate at a cost of £30. Plus a form needs to be signed by our bank to confirm who we are, which we are advised may cost upto £100.
To me this is rediculous we are being charge upto £130 to recieve a certificate because the post office has lost, as computershare say it is no longer their property once posted. Despite not being set recorded delivery.
Has anybody had a similar experience or any suggestions.0 -
Hi,
I'm a newbie to the site - great site. I have some comapny share options - some are vested and some aren't. I would like to sell some but wondered what the tax implications are? Can I transfer the vested shares to an ISA?
Thanks in advance :rolleyes:0 -

If they are from an unapproved scheme then exercising the options will mean incurring tax and NI costs on the benefit. Normally what happens is you exercise the optinos (complete the relevant forms) and the administrators will calculate your benefit, i.e. ((current price-exercise price) x shares) - tax & NI, and then provide you with a share cert for the equivillent value in shares at todays price. You can then chose what you want to do with it
Over an above this I think (exercised) share options are still subject to annual capital gains limits.

Hi,
My partner and myself want to start a bit of trading on the side and are really interested in buying into oil market. Ideally want to buy direct into crude. I am using selftrade at the moment and see that you can trade in ETF's. Can anyone point us in the right direction to trade directly in crude, easiest and cheapest way possible please? Any good dealing platforms that people can recommend... Many thanks."I'd like to live as a poor man with lots of money". ~Pablo Picasso0 -
You can't deal directly in crude as a retail investor. You can buy an oil ETF ( OILB ) but beware - there are pretty serious drawbacks. There are warrants but these are a fixed term product and slightly more complicated - more here, if you're interested.
IMO you'd be better off with a medium-sized E&P company - plenty discussed on the first board I've linked to. Have a look here, too.0 -
Thanks cheerfucat. I was dubious about ETFs after a few things ive read on other sites. Im a real newcomer to trading, so am doing a huge amount of research before i even think about parting with any money...
excuse the huge ignorance, but can you elaborate on what an E&P company is? I probably know the answer, but want to make sure...
Thanks very much for the links. They are making good reading as i am a great believer in peak oil theory."I'd like to live as a poor man with lots of money". ~Pablo Picasso0 -
Hi, Baby_Depardieu,
I think that you will find the TMF boards very useful indeed. If you click on the link at the top of the recs column on the board index page ( the one I linked to ), it will be sorted to show the posts with the highest number of recommendations first - saves a lot of time, as they are very busy boards!
E&P = exploration and production. The oil majors don't move as much with the oil price, and the very small oil companies are very risky. In my experience Canadian and Australian companies are also to be avoided - there's a lot of dodginess in commodity stocks!0 -
I have some good gains locked into my shares. I want to make my £5000 free of capital gains tax.
I have deposited my certificates with Hoodless and await CREST clearance.
I still want to hold these ashares so will buy back. Tricky thing will be the timing of sale and purchase.0 -
Hiya
Would anyone have information on the best sources of information on AIM shares?
