•
I’ve had deposits down on the Lotus M250, which was never built in the end, and the McLaren MP4-12c, both placed within hours of the unveiling at the Frankfurt motor show, as that was the only way to get a place early on the list and have a very good chance of actually getting one. No price had been announced at the time.

If you like your cars, and want access to something that will sell out quickly or have a very long order list then it makes sense.
As I said, different world for the rich.

And as I said it's common on a lot of brands. MINI with the GP editions, Ford with the RS cars etc

I put down the 1000 GBP deposit for the new all electric Audi eTron a while ago.
Having then recently learnt about the launch spec and prices announced in USA, I have decided not to go for it.
Called up Audi UK customer service (using number provided in the confirmation email I got when I put down the deposit) and asked for the refund.
They took down all the details and advised the money will be with me in 7 days.
It's now 25 days since then and I have not got any refund back :(
I've been on the phone with them and they just keep giving me excuses of all sorts, the 1st 2 phone calls were with reps who would not give a s**t, the next 2 were a bit more professional - but I still haven't got the money back.

It's all becoming a bad taste now and I'm just left wondering if I've been scammed after all - I checked all the usual things like Web certificate, URL etc and it looked legit at that time but this sinking feeling is beginning to grow as everyday passes without receiving the refund.

Has anyone here been in a similar boat as mine re Audi eTron and gotten back the deposit money so far ?

Your get your money back but it just takes time. It took Tesla 4 weeks to refund my deposit on a Model 3. Come to think of it it took them 4 weeks to change our orignal order from a Model S to X.

All these compaines are slow with moving money around for some reason, but they are very quick at taking it :).

Exactly. Its not a "SCAM" and they are not "refusing to refund". Its just that their processes arent geared up to handle refunds effectively.

I've no doubt the O/P will get their money back, albeit in a longer timeframe than was committed to.
• Thanks Guys, I do hope to get the money back and that I did not fall for a facebook scam that was mimicking the original Audi reservation programme.....who knows what's going on these days in the Fakebook land !.
Having said that I also did put down a £1000 deposit on Model 3 ages ago and I'm glad I did. I know more about the car now and it does look good, seems worth the money - but it's probably going to be another 2yrs before any one of us gets our hands on a right hand drive model 3 unfortunately...that's the bad part.
• Finally got the money back today - after more than 10 phone calls and I asked them to send me their postal address so I can put everything in writing and lay the base work for legal action - once I said that an Audi rep took responsibility and saw to that I got the refund asap and he provided daily updates.

I would have thought you would have been more circumspect after your last debacle with the log cabin?
I just read through that thread, he does seem to have something of a track record of this sort of thing, put down a deposit then starts the feelings of regret and the accusations of rip-off or SCAM.

At least this time DSR was his saviour.

• LOL - wait for my next thread which will be aptly titled as :

For added effect and gravitas i've added SCAM in the title for you ;)

Glad you got your money back though. It was never in doubt in my mind, however its annoying when someone else has your money beyond when they committed to giving it back so i can understand your frustration.
