I tried Ubuntu, DSL, XDSL and some others quite a while back but wasn't a fan. I use my PC mostly for gaming and although i'm well aware you can game on Linux i find there is often more compatibility issues or it can be annoying getting the latest drivers and the likes.

Don't you get SSH in Windows these days?0 -
If a device comes with Windows/Mac OS/Android already installed, 99% of the time I'm happy to just use it.
I will say that Windows does seem to have the tendency to age badly with the device it's installed on in my experience, and things may get to a point where I choose to do a bit of work to improve matters.
If it make sense to, I'll quite happily use a Linux disto. These days the main functions are user friendly enough. But most of the time I use Windows as it's the simplest option. Majority of the time, said device ends up simply being a tool to access the internet tbh.0 -

A lot has to do with software installation. There are so many apps, and people keep adding and removing will cause some stuff to be left behind. Windows is particularly bad because there is so much stuff you can trial. Many people buy apple for a set purpose, or limited number of tasks, and would say they generally tend not be gamers.
Also Apples are often designed quite well, and on par to a business level laptop or PC, but charge a premium price. Part functionality wise there is very little diffference.
On my first android phone, I kept wiping that a fair few times due to me continually loading stuff. Installing little on my new phone (4 years old now), have not had not to re-install since purchase.

When PCs are shipped with Linux people love them. Microsoft then move to stop that happening. I just looked up buying a Linux PC. I was amazed that Dell sell one. £81.90 cheaper than Windows. Then I started to configure it. You can't buy it online with Ubuntu. Do you have to phone them up to buy an Ubuntu? Why on earth can't you buy it online? I bought an Asus PC on linux. Very cheap. Then 'Asus are in talks with Microsoft'. Then 'Asus only sells Windows PCs'. So Microsoft make sure all PCs are shipped with Windows. You always have tiny sellers and then as they grow Microsoft move in and make sure they sell their computers with Windows installed. The only people then who can save money are people who build their own PCs. Amazon and ebay are full of Licence key sellers for under £10. People stay on Windows because of Microsoft controlling the market. Google Android is probably a more realistic threat to take over as the PC operating system.0

I've sometimes thought about installing Linux on i3 win10 laptop.
Only installed Ubuntu once on previous i5 laptop.
Unfortunately I only had 3 mobile usb dongle for internet access which at that time wasn't compatible (I didn't find time to run a pre formatted script to try and get the usb dongle recognised)
I found 'Easy bcd' handy as it was simple dual win/Linux booting which worked well from starup.
