    so after all the bad posts on TSB

    you are going for one of their accounts ?

    Sure, I am aware of their IT issues which are ongoing to some extent.
    I think they are improving their service though. The phone support was good on the day I called.
    I wouldn't switch my main account to them, or quite trust them for day to day banking, or for processing DDs and SOs, but there is no requirement to have those on this account.
    Just using Internet Banking, switching to paperless and meeting the monthly pay-in requirements.
    I don't see any other savings/current accounts that pay 5% on up to £1500.

    N.B. I am excluding Nationwide FlexDirect as I have one of those which is over a year old so the 5% interest rate has expired for me. It's being kept for the 5% monthly saver. Along with FD's 5% monthly saver.

    My experience:
    * Applied online for Classic Plus Account 6 days ago.
    * Received Debit card yesterday
    * Received internet banking activation code today. Didn't work - got the generic exception code error others have mentioned.
    * Called customer service. Got through immediately after automated security checks. Phone operator activated internet banking on his end and sent me temporary password by text. Stayed on the call whilst I changed password and logged back in to check it was all working.

    All in all, relatively straightforward apart from minor irritation of having to spend 5 minutes on phone instead of activation code working first time.
