The EU will be introducing the ETIAS (European Travel Information and Authorization System) in 2021, which will require UK passport holder (among many others) to pay 7 Euros for a document lasting 3 years in order to travel in the EU.

    Thanks for the heads up.

Seven Euros is as cheap as chips for an essential document these days - no dramas.

We've got 6 kids, so that's another EUR56 to fork out plus the worse exchange rate.

When do we get the Brexit dividend again?

My passport was renewed last year and says EU on it. Are they going to issue me with a new UK one ? hope so.
Mind you I am not going to Europe next year but my ESTA cost more that that.

Did you read the link provided by Agrinnall?

It states ''anyone between the ages of 18 and 70 must pay the fee, the EU says''.

    Therefore, under 18s don't pay.

They could, but you should then expect the EU to do the same - this has absolutely nothing to do with visas.

I expect that if you want a UK branded passport you can get one by paying for a completely new one, although why you would want to waste money doing that I have no idea.

One your second point, next year has no relevance as I have clearly stated in both the thread title and the OP that ETIAS won't start until 2021 (and given that it's a government computer project, probably won't actually happen until several years after that!).

The EU to britain: You need to pay us 7 euro to holiday here because of all the paperwork we need to do for you because youre untrustworthy and are likely to take more than you contribute.

The EU to rest of the world: Dont worry about the paperwork, im sure youll fill it in and pay whats required.

Another item in the long list of Brexit drawbacks. What's the upside, again?
