Well, my last claim (initially rejected) has not been paid and is now well outside their own timescale. I have once again taken the first step and won't accept the usual excuses (lost in the post, need another 28 days to issue another cheque, etc). LBA issued, small claims court in short order.

I'd forgotten how nice it is to have to force CPW to fulfill their end of a contract. I confess, I've fallen into lapse ways (waiting beyond 1 day after the claim should have been paid) since for the last 3 - 4 years I've been dealing with a different company who accepts a claim in minutes even when closed!) and pays the money straight into my current account in 3- 4 days.

Won't make that mistake again. In future, once they have been forced to accept a claim I will make a note and on the 29th day take the appropriate action if the money hasn't arrived.

Others be warned; so far they have broken the t&c twice at the first claim. Guess I should have expected that from CPW.

It's sad to see how far they have fallen since their glory days of the 1990s when, IMHO, they were the go-to place for mobile-phones. Getting into bed with Currys/Dixons was the final straw for me. I won't go near the place.

I used them for scores of contracts for about 10 years before that merger. They would try it on with claims from time to time, but after a three year gap on this experience I reckon they're worse than ever. Now gearing up to sue. Feels like coming home!
  • The cheque arrived today - three weeks after the time they allow themselves. Next claim due in a week; this time the LBA will be despatched when they are a day late. Wonder if they'll reject that claim too... so far their batting average is a lot worse than it used to be.

I love reading members giving mobilejunkie advice about cashback. Probably they don't have Grandmothers to teach how to extract the goodness out of hens' eggs.

MJ's probably regretting the lost opportunity to sue them! It's frustrating when you psych yourself up to do battle and the other side meekly caves in.

Well, I must admit... But, then CPW have usually caved when strongly challenged and it seems that part hasn't changed. A pity there aren't many cashback deals any more - and no free ones. I now only have 3 running - I used to have up to 11 at any given time, plus as many for other people I ordered for. Bit of a shame you have to threaten to sue on just one contract with them; when I had loads and it was just now and then!
  • His there I'm looking at getting the s10 plus from Mobiles.Co.UK but been a bit put off from reading posts on here form you and others my question is should I buy from them and how do I know if it's a cashbook deal or not will it say something like that before I buy and made obvious or will it be hidden in the t&c ?? If you have to ask you really need to do a LOT of research before even considering a cashback contract with anyone - that alone CPW. It will be clear whether it is when you study the offer. Usually the cashback isn't so significant on contracts with expensive phones.

Whilst things are a LOT easier nowadays, you still need to follow the groundrules and be prepared to sue. I am within a few days of another LBA if my second claim hasn't arrived. IF you know what you're doing and how to enforce the cashback and take immediate action where required you should be fine - as long as CPW doesn't go bust.
