Can someone tell me why these houses in Liverpool are so cheap?

Honestly, if things don't turn out where I am I will seriously consider moving here, find a stable job and set up roots.

Merseyside is a great area though overall. Nicest people in GB in my experience

Bootle and Litherland had a problem when I used to work there in the 80s. Both were really rough areas where people wouldn't choose to live if they could live somewhere else.
