Are they all in "bad" areas?
Honestly, if things don't turn out where I am I will seriously consider moving here, find a stable job and set up roots.

200k is way too much for me. Is it possible to get an okay area for 100k?0 -
The council were selling house for £1 In Liverpool a few years ago. You can still get a 2 up 2 down in Burnley for around 20k0

There are a lot of beautiful areas in Merseyside and surrounding areas with properties available at a fraction of what you would pay in the south. That is probably why there is a growing population not shrinking as you claim in your OP.
Whilst Liverpool is cheap in comparison to the south it is not the cheapest in the country though. If you just want cheap check out the likes of County Durham, Sunderland and even South Wales.
The cheapest properties, wherever they are tend to have the same things in common - they are in high unemployment, deprived areas often with high crime rates.0 -
County Durham is indeed cheap.
