Honestly, if things don't turn out where I am I will seriously consider moving here, find a stable job and set up roots.

Often the reason these places are cheap is the lack of stable jobs - or indeed any jobs at all. Places where they are jobs aren't cheap - London for example.
  • I think in a few years time I will spend a few months exploring where I might settle.

Here a lot of "rough" areas are actually very nice, so I am hoping to find a place that isn't too bad in a big city like Liverpool.

Wales has increased quite a lot. Cardiff was a bargain 2-3 years ago, but its not like tthat anymore, even Newport has seen crazy increases.

This definitely. My hubby travels to Manchester for work, I'm still looking. No decent jobs to be had in liverpool.

I hope their forecasts are better than their English.
  • Liverpool has two universities, two premier league teams, an airport, a ferry terminus and a growing tourism industry (highest number of Grade 1 listed buildings in the country outside London) thanks to the docks being tarted up, so it's not an employment black hole in the same way as most former mining areas. You would have to research job options very carefully before moving anywhere though.

Perhaps the OP is looking for a livery yard
Never, under any circumstances, take a sleeping pill and a laxative on the same night.

There are a lot of beautiful areas in Merseyside and surrounding areas with properties available at a fraction of what you would pay in the south.

St. Helens is 68% greenbelt, although the council are hoping to reduce it to about 53% according to local reports. Like most areas, it has it's problems, but there are some good parts too - I live in one of them! We have beautiful countryside, great transport links, and plenty of activities to suit all tastes. We're also very close to Warrington, which offers better employment opportunities but where houses cost a lot more. Bungalows in quiet areas cost less than £180,000, with semis and terraces cheaper than that.

I'd avoid the town centre at night though.
