One estate agent told me, not how true it is, but after Xmas is their busiest time of year. So it might pick up. It would help putting a link on here for honest feedback. I have had people say something and then showed me property on right move and you can tell straightway why it hasn't sold. It's usually decor, the pictures, layout etc.
It is uncertain times at the moment so be prepared for a scary few months in 2019
I've read that boxing day is one of the busiest traffic days for rightmove. I suppose like booking a holiday, after the hype is over for xmas people start looking ahead to what they'll do next.
Pop the link up, if it can be improved we'll let you know so you can have it ready and waiting for those browsers on the 26th!0 -

Absolutely - I arranged a ton of viewings on 27th December last year because I'd spent most of the previous two days poring over Rightmove with my siblings! Hold out until January before you start to worry, OP - I expect it will pick up.0 -
Instead of spamming irrelevant unhelpful links, CT, why don't you sell or buy a house, then come back and share what you learned in the process?Crashy_Time wrote: »0 -
The property section of last week's local paper was considerably reduced in size as EAs are now winding down for the festive seasonIf you are querying your Council Tax band would you please state whether you are in England, Scotland or Wales0

Generally speaking if you don't get any viewings it is because the house is very overpriced. If the house was attractively priced people would view it even at this time of the year but they are not going to view a house that is so overpriced they can get a better one for much less somewhere else.
No viewing means very overpriced.
Viewings and no offers means a bit overpriced
Viewings and proceedable offers means that you have to got the price about right.
Some estate agents suggest prices that are very overpriced to get your business. Do your own research and work it out yourself. Remember that if you are selling an ex local authority house you cannot expect to get the same amount for it as a similar house that has never been an ex local authority house. Ex local authority houses have to be sold for a lot less that a similar non ex local authority house. Lots of people make this mistake. They spend a lot of money doing up an ex council house and then expect to get the same amount for it as they would if it hadn't been and ex council house. The housing market doesn't work like this. People generally only buy ex council houses if they can't afford a non ex council house.
Must be different where you live then... Ex council houses where I'm from tend to have much more spacious rooms than newer builds which makes them quite desirable for a lot of people.
Houses aren't valued on who used to live in them generally.0 -
I have twice sold houses to buyers who came over the Christmas period. One localism and 1 moving home and visit g family for Christmas- knocked on door on Boxing Day and bought it.June challenge £100 a day £3161.63 plus £350 vouchers plus £108.37 food/shopping saving
July challenge £50 a day. £ 1682.50/1550
October challenge £100 a day. £385/£31000 -
Terrible time to sell a house (personal opinion), when all focus and money is on Christmas. Id have held off till mid Feb...
That's without all the sh*t going on with Brexit!
If it does sell, you are attractivly priced for certain!0 -

That doesn't make any sense (not saying you are wrong because many people share this false belief as stats show).
What money is being spent on selling a house? EA fees and solicitors fees will be settled at completion which will be several months away.
Are people focused on Christmas 24/7?? Surely there is the odd hour to put houses up for sale (seller) or go and view houses (buyer).
There is no reason why the housing market needs to slow at this time of year (talking normal years, not necessarily Brexit year). The fact remains it does because people have this psychological block around this time of year.0 -
