I've got a 3 year old Dyson V6 , battery is failing . Consensus is that the battery only lasts 2-3 years.

Standard Dyson warranty is 2 years.

I've noticed Dyson have already stopped selling replacement battery for it on their website.

Only suppliers now are OEM 3rd party copies.

Doesn't bode well for owners of V8 and V10 machines

Browntoa, the battery on the V10 is of a different construction to the previous V8 etc and is expected to last 15 years.
Although there are deals around for the V6 and V8 the OEM battery for the V6 on Amazon at £35 would add an extra £175 over the 15yr life of the V10 so maybe the deals woks out no cheaper than the cost of a V10 over time.

Had feedback from Dyson about battery just now .

They say you have to ring Dyson support to order even though the battery is standard in all V6. I'm assuming a sell on of an engineer visit to service at the same time for £99.

I'm hoping the cone design of the V10 is better than the V6 where the holes are too small and a trap for dust. Mines never been used on a dirty environment but I took the whole head to bits the other day and was astonished by how clogged up with dust it all was . Least when the new battery arrives it should work fine.

YouTube is your friend for complete V6 disassembly guides , it only needs a flathead screwdriver and a torx screwdriver.

We have always had Dyson uprights and moved to a Dyson V6, girlfriend loved it.

We've had regular issues but always honoured under warranty. but regularly had to strip down and clean out and untangle hair etc, few battery failures, a motor failure etc.

Battery went on the V6 and its £65 for an official one of £22 for a chinese rip off, but dont fancy the house burning down.

Saw that Shark were doing the top end pet/duoclean model for £349, with a blue light card you get 20% off so ended up being £269 delivered. Came with about 7 different heads, 3 batteries, a charger that charges two batteries at once so you can have a constant rotation, and girlfriend had a run round with the dyson, and then used the shark and it pulled up an amazing amount of stuff the dyson left behind. felt better on the carpet, not as loud, but it is a bit heavier.

She is fully converted now and woudlnt go back to a dyson. If you know anyone that works for NHS, police etc, the blue light discount is well worth using.

For the prices Dyson charge these days both Sebo and Miele cost pretty much the same ( and in many cases a lot less in fact ) and both are far far superior machines, much better engineered and generally built to last. Decent Shark is as good a machine as Dyson and way cheaper. All 3 manufacturers do produce some battery operated or small and lightweight machines. If size or weight is not an isue simple £100 Henry is good ( every cleaner has one , they can't be that bad.... ) . Dyson has superior marketing and advertising, average engineering and bellow average value for money and nowadays quality is bellow par too

I had a similar experience when coming from a corded Dyson to a corded Shark.  The Shark simply mortified the Dyson.
