What a Joke Vodafone is
Worst mobile company I have ever been with. I took a contract out with them for my Google Nexus 6p, that was due to end after 2 years.
Firstly, they overcharged my monthly bill even though it was agreed in my contract that I'd have free texts and calls. They charged me £130 at the time of the overcharges, when selling me the contract they conviently put £45 in red bold to attract customers.
I had to phone them multiple times, with my call being diverted to different departments of course, to fix the overpayments. There was absolutely no chance they were going to contact me. The issue was resolved but I didn't get my money back. In fact when I demanded to leave them after a year of bad service, they requested that I pay over £800 to finish the contract early.
After the 2 year contract which cost me well over £800, more like £3000, they put me straight into a rolling contract. So, a phone that I had paid off I was now paying £85 for a month. When I ended the rolling contract, which they failed to contact me about too and I had the pleasant bill being debited from my account, they demanded that I paid £85 for a 30 day notice period.
Enough is enough surely?! I refused to pay the notice period and cancelled the direct debit from account and now they have defaulted my credit score for £85. I can't even get monthly bills for my gas and electricity because of Vodafone! They sent threatening letters to me about debt collection also if I didn't pay the £85.
What a joke! No wonder Richard Branson is a millionare because he is ripping off folk and if they, with clear justice, refuse to pay, his company sends out debt collectors and damages people's credit history.
Honestly, learn from me and never pick Vodafone for any of your services!

No! I'm 29 years old! I made a stupid mistake about Richard Branson and Virign. I'm about to edit it sorry, didn't realise I was speaking to Vodafone customer service haha. Jesus Christ. I'd like to see how well you handled Vodafone after an experience like this.0

Oh my, I didn't realise Vodafone customer service were out in force today haha. I'll calm down when I can heat the house for my 10 month old son. Don't belittle someone you know nothing about.Worst mobile company I have ever been with. I took a contract out with them for my Google Nexus 6p, that was due to end after 2 years.

Your contract was never due to end in two years. Thats not how it works ever. Its a minimum term of whatever then goes to a rolling contract. Its 100% up to you to know when that ends and to either let it roll , negotiate an upgrade or move. You shouldnt of cancelled your direct debit. You were in the wrong and its a pretty dumb move that you will now pay for.
On the other points though, 100% agree. Vodafone are dire. I was with them for many years but in the last contract period had many of the issues you had. No signal for weeks at a time, promised refunds never happening and being charged for every text and min used when all of them should be inclusive. Credits applied, apologies made only to have to repeat the same old carp with vodafones pathetic excuse for customer service for several months in a row.0 -
Not at all true. I was with 02 for a 2 year contract for a Samsung, they contacted me to ask me and when I didn't want to continue it that was it done. I'm now with Virign ironically, they have contacted me also about the end of my contract. Not a single word from Vodafone, apart from an overdue bill from the notice period of £85. They're quick to look for their money alright!
Vodafone did not contact me, and yes said the same rubbish that it was my duty to contact them. Whereas I have had much better experiences with other mobile providers.
I cancelled the direct debit not through stupidity, but through absolute exasperation. I told Vodafone all about my experience when ending the supposed rolling contract which was in the small print of the original contract and was only mentioned when I tried to leave, I was advised to go to complaints. Yet another pass the parcel.
I'm just reiterating to anyone considering to join them just don't.0 -
£85 a month? Who pays that?
These forums are about money saving. Going SIM only with your own phone inevitably works out far cheaper. In addition, you have a much wider choice. Some SIM only contracts tend to not increase annually, Three being one. At the end of the minimum term, SIM only usually continues at the same monthly rate, so a bargain 12 month min contract can be good value beyond the contract period.
BTW, do not try to end a contract by cancellation of a direct debit. In the case of a mobile contract ask for your PAC and use it to transfer to another provider.0 -
Not a leg to stand on. That's how mobile contracts work (whatever you did with previous ones). Your external credit file will be wrecked for the next six years which could make it hard to get another contract (among many other problems yet for you to discover). You plainly missunderstand how these contracts work, from the "minimum term", to the phone not (usually) being a separate cost, to cancelling your direct debit (to list just a few) resulting in a pointless rant which shows your own inadequate understanding/research and (for once) doesn't paint Vodafone in a bad light.0

Yes, £3,000 is definitely well over £800. Just one part of a very confusing post I'm afraid.Enough is enough surely?! Actually that's not because of Vodafone, that's due to you cancelling the DD.
Vodafone (and Richard Branson) do and will send your debt to a collection agency, it's always an idiotic thing to do (cancelling the DD).

I'm with Virign now.
They overcharged me, hence my frustration.
Oh yes, it's of great amusement to me, someone with a mortgage and good standing with all other accounts, that I have a bad credit score because of a measly sum of £85, when they overcharged me over £120 for months at a time.
But yes, of course it is me who is in the wrong and painted badly.0 -

Your posts are getting more confusing I'm afraid, are you saying that you were overcharged £120 a month?0
