What a Joke Vodafone is

You are being frustratingly picky, but maybe I am writing colloquially due to being angry.
I was charged £120 for 3 consecutive months, when my contract stated it would be £45 per month. This was due to an error in their system which took numerous attempts by Vodafone to rectify. They were charging me for all calls and texts to UK numbers, despite in the contract it was stated they would be free. It was fixed eventually, but I wasn't refunded.
I am sorry about ranting, but I am so upset they have damaged my credit score for 6 years for a sum of £85, especially when they were overcharging me.
I am now with Virign on a sim only contract that I am tied into for 12 months. The difference has been exceptional! They have also been courteous enough to contact me about the end of my contract with them.
I can only reiterate never go with Vodafone, especially if you're looking to save money.0 -
Anger won't help you. Why did you not take action when they didn't repay an overcharge? I certainly would have. That has nothing to do with cancelling the direct debit, which is why you "damaged your credit score" and not them as you state. You were obliged to pay for 30 days' notice regardless - it's in the contract you agreed to at the start.0

Yes I did take action. But I was passed like a parcel from department to department. They resolved the issue but never refunded me. I did consider going to the ombudsman but never went through with it.
You are right about the notice period payment. I guess I was doing my own little anarchist strike against corporate greed which I am now paying for. Not Vodafone, who are in the wrong here too.
I just wanted to give the finger to Vodafone, but there's not much one person can do on their own but leave rants and bad reviews.0 -
The trouble with 'rants' is they make you sound stupid.
You may have had a bad experience but over reacting by cancelling a direct debit is indeed a stupid thing to do.
They didn't make you cancel it....it was your choice to cancel and because of that you have ruined your credit.0 -
OP, please consider leaving this until you are calmer and can give us a more detailed and dated explanation.
There are ways to challenge inaccurate bills. We can help you with these.
Just never walk away leaving unpaid bills, no matter how much you think you're in the right. It puts you in the situation you're in now with your mortgage.0 -
Call me stupid because I'm don't regret that cancelled direct debit. Yes, I have to sort out my credit score now, by opening a credit card account and by closing one of all my accounts that are in good standing, but my actual point of the whole rant is don't go with Vodafone.
It's really easy for someone to dictate that I'm stupid on the Internet (I didn't help matters by confusing Virign and Vodafone), and they would have the support of everyone on this thread. But I know that I'm glad I didn't pay that notice period. I just really wanted to advise others not to go with Vodafone! They don't adhere to their side of the contract at times, like bad reception and charges for free calls and texts. Other customers will tell you that too. Oh and they can keep singing for the £85 haha.0 -

Oh dear, guess you can't help some people.0 -
Yes you're so right.
I am not explaining myself well at all.
In fact I am just getting cheeky with people who don't fully understand the situation, which is all down to me not being coherent. I am sorry.
I have no debt. I am sorry to give that impression. I have one defaulted account on my credit score from Vodafone.
I am really just ranting it would appear and appearing stupid because I'm not calm.0 -
It seems like I've left a review here on the wrong kind of forum. That is my mistake.
Basically, Vodafone have now given me a low credit score, due to it being the last account I have closed in the past six months.
Is there any point in settling it? I don't think so. I was advised by Experian to leave it be since it will appear for 6 years regardless. So, please do not take a snapshot of my joke about refusing to pay Vodafone the notice period out of context - see above if you don't get the reference.
Yes, I should have not cancelled the DD, it does seem silly after being in the contract for 2 years, then refusing to pay the notice period. However I was understandly upset because they had charged me for my minutes and texts, which were free as stated in the contract. I did follow it up, albeit not so rigorously as I should have.
I have contacted Vodafone, who have told me my account is closed. Any correspondence or calls between us have been closed since June 2018, so follow up is out of the question.
Looking for advice, what is your experience with accounts affecting your credit score? The problem being for me here is I can't switch energy providers, or from PAYG on energy, due to a low credit rating. I'm finding PAYG extortionate. I have tried USwitch but seems like my energy provider, British Gas, is already providing me with the cheapest tariff.
The only option I feel available to me at this time is to open up a credit card account which I have done. Any other suggestions?0 -
i change contracts every year when mine is due to run out, and never have i been contacted by any provider to say we are cancelling you account now as your contract is up.
every provider, including vodafone i have been with, make it perfectly clear that after contract period, rolling 30 day contract commences
i find it very difficult to believe that Vodfaone charged you for calls, admitted it was their mistake, rectified it but never refunded you?
dont settle the debt and will be passed on to debt collection, more costs involved, more stress etc
your credit score is a made up number0
