Working Hard Debt Diary - Here goes

You sound like you are doing so well. Paying a massive chunk off the debt each month and saving for your wedding. Hats off to you as I know with a wedding there is so much to pay out for.
I've just had DS2's birthday party and I felt so out of control having to spend money. I think when you get in the DFW mode spending money becomes a last resort - does that make me sound me? - and when you have to spend it, it comes hard.
I saw my DD off on the school trip for the week. I will miss her but I'm sure the week will fly. Glad its all paid for though.
Off the sort out DS1's school shoe problem with afternoon. Wish me luck!Working Hard to be Debt Free - one day :A soonDFW Long Hauler 74; Mortgage overpayments MFiT-2 challenger 100Total Nov07 £36000, Sep10 £1623:o:)0 -
Award for wally of the day is heading my way.
I took DS1 shopping today for school shoes (see earlier post) and school uniform that he needed. Easy really. Plus he wanted to spend some of his birthday vouchers. In true and real DFW style I got to the shopping centre and proceed to mouch, looking for b/day pressies/Xmas pressies/ needed items etc etc only to discover I'd left my purse at home . What am I like......I plan the day, have DS2 with a friend, DD on school trip, OH at cricket all organised and then I come home with nothing. There wasn't even any lose change in my bag to buy DS1 a treat.
Thankfully I hadn't thrown out DS1 old school shoes (with the troublesome hole) so they've been polished and are ready for action in the am. How embarrassing!!
Still very DFW stylie I thought....
Looking forward to and needing payday later in the week. Two small payrises for us (all greatly appreciated) and another whack knocked off the debt.
Got one credit card bill in (The IF one) to discovered I'd over paid it by £97!! They owe me - how refreshing :rotfl:. I need to get OH to ring them and get a refund....Working Hard to be Debt Free - one day :A soonDFW Long Hauler 74; Mortgage overpayments MFiT-2 challenger 100Total Nov07 £36000, Sep10 £1623:o:)0 -

Ok good news !!! :j
After two letters to IF (now HBOS) I've been given a goodwill charges refund of £67.86:D. Amazingly this is more than I asked for but they have clearly gone slighltly further back in their records than I did - I'm not complaining in the least!!!
The one RBS one on one of my accounts is still pending and the other more recent (DD set up on the wrong account etc etc) one I've yet to write in about. I will do that this weekend.
Withdrew £36 from TCB so thats winging its way towards the debt fund. £50 in Quidco do to be paid this month and another £43 tracking for next month hopefully. ALso waiting for the CC overpayment to be repaid £97.
All in all thats £250 extra to be paid of the debt early next month. Chuffed or what!!Working Hard to be Debt Free - one day :A soonDFW Long Hauler 74; Mortgage overpayments MFiT-2 challenger 100Total Nov07 £36000, Sep10 £1623:o:)0 -
Just spend the best part of an hour or so 'doing' the finances as I call it. This involves bringing my spending diary spreadsheet upto date, which has been trickly since April has my boys birthdays in! Moving money from the pots around to cover what has been spent etc etc.
Payday on Monday but on checking the accounts both payrises are showingso I've set up the cc payments for Monday
:D. The target at present is the Halifax card (LOB 7.6%). So when the payments hit the cards our debt will stand at.....£16276 :j:beer:. Signature update on the way.
I know that is still massive but from where we started we're just about at the half way mark and cracking on the homeward straight at a pace. When I think of where we were at Nov 2007 barely making the min payments .
We may also have another bit of good news ref the debt but I won't post until I know more......
I couldn't have done it without this forum...

Well done, well done, well done!!! Don't keep us in suspense what DF news have you got hiding up your sleeve??? Have you won the lottery?? tee hee cgxCC Debt: Jan 10 £21,660 now £8,170 hurrah!0

Not been around a bit its all been a bit manic here as usual.
The good news is that we are going to be able to pay another lump sum of our toxic debt, hopefully next month. No we've not won the lottery or any such thing.:p.
We are selling my car which has had to go yet again into the garage to have the warning light checked out again. This was the prompt for us to think about how much the car is costing us now its getting older and the mileage is increasing. Additionally the running costs of my bus (which usually just carries me around) are quite high.
Meantime my FIL has offered me the opportunity to drive his car (sadly following a serious health scare last year he is unable to drive) which has been sitting in his garage unused.
With a bit of luck, and lots of polishing of my current car, we should be able to get £3.5K for it. If so this will just about pay off one of the CC's. This is great news for us and will really really put us on the home straight to being DF. Of course any more would be FAB but we've got to be realistic.
Of course we are selling an asset and at some point I may have to buy another car in which case we'll have to save up the dosh. However at this point we'll be DF and it shouldn't be a problem.
The other plus is that the running costs of my new car will be significantly reduced. The insurance is already £100 less!!
Received the charges and the over payment back from IF this week. This has gone into the DF to be paid off the MBNA card. Quidco have paid out £50 which winging its way to the account and TCB another £33.
I've a few MS's coming up and my matched betting is continuing a pace although I still don't feel able to withdrawn any money!
Onwards we charge towards the light at the end of the tunnel:DWorking Hard to be Debt Free - one day :A soonDFW Long Hauler 74; Mortgage overpayments MFiT-2 challenger 100Total Nov07 £36000, Sep10 £1623:o:)0
