Not sure about the new look boards but I guess I'll get used to it.

Got cross yesterday when OH and I got letters from the DVLA demanding we submit a new photo for our driving licences. Apparently its a legal requirement every 10 years. Oh and they'd like to charge us £20 each for the privaledge!!!! Cross WHDFW.

Payday this week and another mortgage overpayment down. MFIT update due as well this month. Very excited about that.

sounds like your hubby's place is like mine, you have to give them two months credit if you use your own vehicle/ money to buy anything, it's a bit rich of them if you ask me but thems the rules.

I also get annoyed about the having to change your photo and paying for the privalidge, just another form of taxation, but i guess they got annoyed that people could go their entire lifetime with a paper licence and they couldn't get any further income from them once they'd bought the first one.

I think the fact that its just a money making con is what did it for me. LT you are so right just another form of taxation. I need to let it go but I can't quite yet!

Ref the expenses its so annoying that we can't get it right. For direct stuff like parking or purchases its easy as its all claimed back but for petrol a tank full isn't all used for business purposes. I've adjusted the figures for next month to not taking into account OH expenses income but to still allow for the correct petrol costs. They any expenses is all a bonus which goes straight off the debt. The downside to this is that the debt balance will only reduce a small amount at the start of the month £150c but will fall again at the end. So a 2 stage fall!!

Well here I am and I'm hanging my head in shame......OH and I agreed that the PC situation could continue no longer and therefore I am typing this on an all singing, all dancing bells and whistles PC. Lovely if slightly embarassing :o:o:o. It wasn't a rushed into decision but it was done before we were DF therefore I need to update my siggy to reflect the increased debt!!

As I walked the hound this am I did wonder about stopping the mortgage overpayments for a few months to clear the debt. Whilst this would feel better it doesn't make any sense finance wise since the debt (including the PC bit) is or will be all at 0% and the mortgage unfortunately isn't!!

I've only paid £152 off the debt today (normal monthly payments) however when OH's expenses come in later in the month they will go straight off the debt as a lump sum (I'm not including them as income any more). Monthly income/outgoings feel tight since there isn't much (Given what we've had previously) to throw at the debt on payment. However the contaxt against this is that we're overpaying the mortgage by £500 pm and our budgets are all healthly and realistic for how we live, barr a ouple of bits which are still in austerity measures. Crica £2K of debt now feels a lot but hey when we started I've have given a lot to have just that.

I'm looking forward to updating the MFIT challenge this week as soon as the mortgage payment hits the account. I think we're only 3 months away from being under £100K which will be FANTASTIC!

I'm skulcking (sp!) off now hanging me head in shame and I promise I will do a signature update today or tomorrow.

  • Why are you embarrassed? you definately should not be!! In this day and age we need computers to run/organise our life and sometimes to make extra money, so in amny ways it can be classed as an essential..its on 0%, I doubt you would buy anything else on credit until this is paid off. Having one item at a time on 0% and bought with a lot of research for value for money is no bad thing in my opinion..remember not all debt is bad debt, you are savvy and can afford it so do not be embarrassed, you work hard and are very very aware of money these days so your purchase was wise and sensible so enjoy and realise its worked hard for so continue the way you are..I've read all your diary and you are an inspiration where budgets and debt paying are concerned and I am sure your journey has helped many like it has me so be proud not embarrassed...

Oh and you are overpaying £500 per month off your mortgage for gods sake!! Amazing...enjoy
  • Yay on the new pc :D hope its worth it :D and dont feel ashamed i agree stick with the mortgage overpayments since all debts is 0% it will eventually be cleared big hugs x

I agree totally with Keeping Motivated. A PC is an essential not an impulse buy and as it will be on 0% don't worry, you will pay it very soon i am sure.

I'm off to find your MFW thread 'cos ive not seen that one yet ttfn cgx

Thanks for all he very kind posts, nearly brought a tear to my eye. I'm back on track now and you are all so right a PC is an essential.

I've just done my MFiT update at £104k which is about 13% of the target. This leaves me slightly behind track is not in the green zone but I'm not too worried about since every month we overpay brings our redemption date a month earlier. :)

    Signature update due today.

Quiet day in the WHDFW household. Town this am to get some bits including a bag of washers needed for the hot tap in our room which has given up the ghost after feeling a little 'funny' for a couple of days. OH is doing that tonight. This pm hairdresser coming to cut/colour mine, and cut the kids hair. This still feels like a luxury to actually be getting my hair done when its required rather than waiting an extra couple of months:cool:.

Swimming lessons later on - joys

London tomorrow for our big day out :T:cool: Lets hope the sun is shinning
