I've had quote a roller coaster week this week with work. The upshot is that I am extremely fed there and therefore need to take positive action to find another job. Its in hand, CV polished and 6 applications in the pipeline however when you make your mind up its like you jsut want to be out of there! Moan over

I've done quite a bit of exercise this week. Walking, cycling and swimming! Mind you I've eaten some rubbish as well....

We've stayed well within the petrol budget this month but the food budget is overspent :(. There's always one. I guess it evens out.

Still struggling with OH's expenses and I'm clear our system is still not working. We both pay for petrol for travelling on business and claim back miles travelled as expenses. Mine's fairly static so I know what to expect and I always under budget it, plus I receive it with my pay. No problems there. OH's varies enormously and generally I underestimate at about £200 coming in extra each month. However for the last couple of months its been £78/£120 since he worked from home a lot more. Therefore this leaves the monthly figures short - I hope this makes sense!

I'm comtemplating not including OH's expenses income in the monthly figures at all. Rather budget within main income and any expenses is extra which goes straight off the debt. I desperately don't want to be slowly cranking up the debt again which if there is s shortfall each month or even every other month unless it gets paid off will run up the debt. If I do this is means I can pay £150 off the debt each month plus OH's expenses when they come in which vary between £78 and £350.

We've tried various ways of doing this but can't quite get it right.

If anyone's got any suggests I'd welcome them...

    Payday next week :)

what you're suggesting makes sense to me, if you can't be sure what your OH's expenses will be then it's best to try and budget without them and then what ever comes in is an added bonus. I'm assuming that as he's been working from home that his petrol has been proportionately reduced.

    Thanks all for the comments.

LT - Yes when he's had a period working at home then the petrol costs are reduced that month. The biggest issue is that there is a monthly lag with getting the cash back. Hopefully my two years of spending diary has now given me right estimate for our petrol costs.

H & HTBDF - I'm going to go with my gut feel and not count OH's expenses in the monthly income. I'll count mine but these are static and I receive them with my pay so its not a problem. This means that the spare cash to throw at the o/s debt is £150c however any expenses received later in the month will go off the debt.

The spare cash doesn't seem like much at present but we are of course paying £500 extra off the mortgage as well.
