Thanks for the kind posts both.
We're certainly eargerly looking forward to being WH&DF CG:D
The stress does go up and down HTGDF. Sorry to hear you are a bit overwhelmed by it all at present. Its a great feeling when you get a debt paid off and a card or loan paid. Worth all the slogging for. Hold onto that thought.
I nearly had a rare NSD today but then I've had to pay the c/minders bill for the month - so nearly but not quite.Working Hard to be Debt Free - one day :A soonDFW Long Hauler 74; Mortgage overpayments MFiT-2 challenger 100Total Nov07 £36000, Sep10 £1623:o:)0 -

Pay day today :j
Overspending all paid for and accounted for. A few bits and bobs still outstanding but they will have to wait until the 1/2 when the money disperses to the seperate piggy banks.
The most important thing is that the overspending has all been paid for. I fear at times I become obsessive with my spending diary and the systems within. If something isn't paid off its in red (phsycology works as well) and it remains in red until its paid.
Debt payment made as well. The total debt is tumbling quite as fast as it used too but its reducing which is importants and we are edging nearer month by month. I've had to use the Council tax money this month to offset some of the overspending but next month its going off the debt.
We are still on for being DF in March until another £500 comes out of nowhere!!
New figures as of today: £2287 :beer:Working Hard to be Debt Free - one day :A soonDFW Long Hauler 74; Mortgage overpayments MFiT-2 challenger 100Total Nov07 £36000, Sep10 £1623:o:)0 -
Three steps forwarrd and one tiny one back....isn't that the way it goes? DS's has accident this am which involved DS1 accidently dropping a cereal bowl on the floor, via is foot (ouch). Which was painful and caused tears.
However the bowl in question was DS2's special one which when it was in many pieces on the floor also caused tears
. Great start to the day.
Then on the walk to school as DS1 told me his trainers were too tight when he wore them yesterday for PE DS2 then piped up that his toes were at the top of his school shoes. He promptly produced the shoe and foot, mid walk, for me to check. And of course his toes were at the top.:o
Add to that DD needs a new pair of hiking boots to take on her ski trip in March. I've just won a bit on ebay for a used pair for £12 inc P&P so thats not too bad. However since I bought her ski kit over Xmas the clothes fund for this month is already spent and I need to add trainers, shoes and the boots onto it with no extra's coming in.
I've got £50 due from Quidco this week but thats already spoken for. There is £190 tracking but goodness knows when that will pay out. TCB has £38 tracking and the EDF (£60) still needs to appear but I've not received the paperwork yet to make the enquiry. I might just be able to pay for the boots from my MB money (I've got about £15 left in there). Since OH and I were off quite a bit over Xmas our expenses this month will be light so the shoes and trainers may have to carry over to next month .
Plus I just got an email from DDs school saying the spending money for the trip needs to be in a couple of weeks. DD has saved a little, and is giving this months and next's pocket money upto the trip, and G/P's will contribute but I still need to find the money before then......I might need to borrow from another pot ??
These things try us. I know its not major but ugh the best laid plans and all that. Thank goodness Feb is a short month.Working Hard to be Debt Free - one day :A soonDFW Long Hauler 74; Mortgage overpayments MFiT-2 challenger 100Total Nov07 £36000, Sep10 £1623:o:)0 -

sending big hugs to you both
WH I feel your shoe pain! DS2 had been complaining about school shoe hurting etc so I took him for feet measuring in the xmas hols and he's grown 2 sizes since September!!!!! We had to buy him some on the spot but they are the only ones hes got at the mo!
Top of my to do list for 1Feb is buy DS2 trainers, i'm hoping he can manage with his snow boots for our skitrip (only 2 weeks!!) - they are OK so long as he only wears thin socks
Well done on clearing the overspend, all my Feb extra cash will go on clearing things too, I don't think I will be fully back on track until March payday:( hey ho! onwards and upwards cgxCC Debt: Jan 10 £21,660 now £8,170 hurrah!0 -
I sometimes wonder what I do wrong with the clothes. Just when I think I've got the budget under control it all goes haywire. I know the ski stuff is a one off. OH and I have only bought essentials the last couple of years and I recycle the kids stuff wherever I can. The budget has just gone upto £50pm but I guess its just a cashflow thing like the car was at the end of last year. HOw much do you budget for clothes CG although I know yours are Older?
Mind you I was trawling through this diary earlier looking for a post from this time last year when I realised my 14month 0% on the Tesco card must be nearing its end  There's not much on it now but I don't want to be paying any interest if I can help it. We've got a Virgin card with a 0% BT available on it and an RBS card (don't know if they've got any offers) but both of these are empty. The B/Card we use for purchases and and everything is paid off it straight away more or less. I really want to change the used card to the Tesco Card so that I can get mega points but the balance needs to be cleared first. What I am trying to say in my usual long winded way is that the Tesco balance needs to move. Must go and dig out the paperwork....Working Hard to be Debt Free - one day :A soonDFW Long Hauler 74; Mortgage overpayments MFiT-2 challenger 100Total Nov07 £36000, Sep10 £1623:o:)0 -
I am ashamed to say I don't budget for clothes. Mine are quite light on clothing really. Ive a loft full of DS1 jeans coats etc just waiting for DS2 to grow into. I only buy for special occasions and when they have a growth spurt. I'm lucky they aren't worried about labels I buy lots of holiday Ts from primark, and they appreciate new clothes when they get them. When I do spend I try to get it from the £700shopping/petrol budget, but often go over and it has to come from my debt busting account.
I feel quite depressed now. They don't go without and if there's something they really want I try and get it for them but it is hard. They do look like scruffs some times. I'm off for large gin now, mothers ruin and all that! cgxCC Debt: Jan 10 £21,660 now £8,170 hurrah!0 -
Sounds just like us and no doubt millions of others too. They get what they need which is the important thing. Mine aren't into labels either which as you say is lucky. Nothing to be ashamed of good old fashioned common sense if you ask me.
I'll have a virtual gin with you :beer:Working Hard to be Debt Free - one day :A soonDFW Long Hauler 74; Mortgage overpayments MFiT-2 challenger 100Total Nov07 £36000, Sep10 £1623:o:)0
