  • Oh wow! You are on a roll today WH and all before 2pm! You Go girl! cgx
CC Debt: Jan 10 £21,660 now £8,170 hurrah!
  • Thanks all I was on a bit of a roll yesterday with one thing and another. I still haven't listed on ebay yet but I will eventually. I released a MS today since I was mega busy at work and tbh my heart wasn't in it. Maybe I am relaxing a little....

I've been pondering our car bill concerns which are looming. I don't think the car tax will be as bad as I orginally predicted having checked online however until the renewals get sent through I won't know for certain but fingers crossed. That still leaves MOT and Insurance on OH's car and service on mine!!

To top matters off DD came home from school with 'notes' about two school trips either to France or Germany. It will cost about £450  which is naturally a lot of money on top of the ski trip as well. DD wants to go but she is already doing quite a lot. Part of me wants to ensure she has the opportunity however....we'll ponder and perhaps see what she can save for the trip herself? Not rush to make a decision....

Edging towards payday .....trying not to spend too much:rolleyes:

I sympathise with the school trip, but there is nothing wrong with compromise - ie not going on all the trips. While we want them not to miss out while we are on this debt free lark, we also need to teach them that they can't have everything, especially when these things are expensive.

So, now, DS comes home and says "they were giving out letters about the Paris trip, but I said I wouldn't take one, because I want to go skiing instead".......

And DD may be going to China, but she isn't going skiing this season as her compromise.

  • Sound advice H as always. You must be very proud of your kids when they do/say that. DD is fairly good as well which is encouraging.

  • My lost paypal money came into the debt fund account today so that has paid off a few ebay costs with the balance going into the tax fund. This now has the required amount in it which is nice. Goodness knows when I'll get asked for the money - I must check - but at least I know its there waiting. I must get myself organised for this tax year as well so I'm not having to save up for a bill in a years time - I know thats super organised but I guess I can try! Having a savings account labelled tax does make it harder to ignore I guess. Just checked online and the payment isn't due until Jan so I'll sit on the money until then and if I can I will start to add to it for this years tax bill - Gold star if I manage it!!

Chased an outstanding and large (£70) quidco payment to see whether that materialises before the insurance it was gained on is due for renewal :rotfl:.

  • Sounds like a pleasant evening for you:beer: and a nice quiet weekend :rotfl:

I managed with most of my CC debt using existing cards. Only this year have we had the courage to apply for a new 0% card. Mind you are existing ones are upping our limits to rediculous amounts. Our IF card statement has a £14k limit - I ask you - I AM NOT GOING THERE AGAIN !!!

Just trying to get my head around how much work we've got to do to be DF by December. Its doable but a challenge which I need to focus on.

I'm out tonight (Book CLub) so I'll post more on my final DFW challenge tomorrow night.

    Enjoy the beers:D

  • Right as we near the end of our DF journey I'm facing one last challenge..we are aiming to be DF by the end of this year and achieving it in 2009 is really important. Physchologically (sp?!) we both want to go into next year DF...

...so using my wonderful spreadsheet and calculating our debt over 3 more paydays () to the end of the year means that we'll be about £1.4k short (essentially another months payment). Now we've three months between now and then and I feel that this is my last DFW challenge: to 'earn/generate' the extra £1.4k before Dec and to have cleared all our debts by 31/12/09. This is quite a challenge but its going to have to happen since neither of us want to be carry any debt into next year.

    The plan:
    • MSing a little more - I've been a little choosy aka lazy for the last couple of months so this needs to be cranked up a little more again
    • MBing continuing - this has been ticking along in the background but I need to have a last push at this. Currently I've got about £280 in there so I need to increase this to get us to our totals
    • Ebaying - well I've been lazy with this too. I've got loads to stuff to clear but just haven't found the time/energy to do so - this will have to change
My plan of course doesn't allow for any monthly overspends which have to come from the debt pot. This month OH has spent loads on fuel due to work. He'll get this back next month on expenses but the cc will have to be cleared this month - sounds complicated but it evens out in the long run.

The other spanner could be Xmas. Although we've got a budget for Xmas this is very tight and therefore time/effort needs to be put into making it work. OH wants to get the family a Wii for Xmas (expensive) since he can see the light at the end of the tunnel and is relaxing a little - needless to say I am not now.

This time last year I was trying to save a pot to clear the Cahoot loan, however I did have the benefit of earning extra to add to the pot. This year those extra earnings are a given therefore the pot will have to build from methods outlined. I'm going to keep the money in the debt pot (the Debt is interest free therefore it won't cost us and it will help me focus). I'm looking forward to the challenge since I need to have a focus for the next few months. Very excited about potentially being 3 paydays away from being DF:D:D
