Working Hard Debt Diary - Here goes

:DThe shoes are calling me and I've darn well decided that I am getting them - I've got the money and hell I work hard enough for it. It breaking the non spending habit now occasionally.
The MFIT challenge will be exciting and it will keep me focused although I think staying DF will perhaps be the biggest challenge. Its really scary thinking about life after Xmas when we'll be DF. I need to shift some of this excess weight so I can buy some clothes without the CC guilt which goes with it. Mind you OH is already dropping hints like lead weights about getting his restoration project car now that the cricket season is finished.....I am resisting but how long I can hold out is another matter. This time last year he was banging on about changing his car and I caved in and now its the restoration project. Him and cars don't have a good track record.....I am resisting.
I very much appreciated the comment about the sofa's FSM. My hound ate through one of our cons sofa's last year - when I say ate through it was literal. We bought new sofa's (CG - see we all do it) and the dog has been very good so far mind you he is banded from the cons so that probably helps.
I've decided that this week will be an ebay week. I want to get at least 20 things listed so that I can get some money in the debt fund account. Mind you the in transit money has now all arrived so the extra school clothes has been paid off, and my F08/09 tax bill money has been put aside so that feels good. I've still got £35 in my paypal account but I can't withdraw it until it gets to £50. Thats going to have to sit there until I sell something else - very frustrating..
Quite a quiet weekend so looking forward to catching up on a few chores and vegging out with some red grape juice:DWorking Hard to be Debt Free - one day :A soonDFW Long Hauler 74; Mortgage overpayments MFiT-2 challenger 100Total Nov07 £36000, Sep10 £1623:o:)0 -
re. the paypal account - try withdrawing the £35 and see if there is a charge. what paypal account type do you have?
in the last month or so i think they have changed it to let you withdraw anything over £6 for free - but just haven't publicised it. i've withdrawn a few amounts less than £50 recently.
i am in the final stages of the MFiT challenge - almost in the last 6 months of the 3 years. i can't remember life before it and certainly don't know why i didn't 'get' overpaying earlier:rolleyes:? my original challenge was to pay off 25k and i aim to beat that and then continue. what with moving to an offset and the really low rates (currently 1.29%), we hope to pay it off in the next 3-5 years;)0 -
Thanks for that FSM the money is withdrawn - I'd not realised and thought it was still £50 for a free withdrawal. My money is now winging its way to the Debt fund. Hopefully I won't need to use too much of the regular debt fund this month and the debt balances will reduce nicely.
Wow you've done really well on the MFit challenge. Well done. Our rate is not so low having a fairly recent tracker. I'm going to see if we can reduce our existing term with N/wide next week as well as planning to overpay £500 pm from Jan. Both of these things should give us a good headstart on hitting our MFiT challenge of getting the mortgage down to £50k. A little scary but a nice challenge to replace our DF one!!
I got the shoes i was after this am. I'm well chuffed with them and i don't feel an bit of guilt since i had the money. Still comes a little difficult to spend anything but I'm over it.
I've decided that I am a prize DF nerd and its official. We got a notice from the Water people about our bill the result of which is that we are £12 in credit. Not only was I telling OH and saying that will reduce our monthly DD by £1 but also that I was going to ask them to refund the £12. His face was a picture and I did realise I was offically a MSE & DFW nerd - and loving it!! Well its my £12 and our £1 each month.Working Hard to be Debt Free - one day :A soonDFW Long Hauler 74; Mortgage overpayments MFiT-2 challenger 100Total Nov07 £36000, Sep10 £1623:o:)0 -

They do sound lush don't they
Definately on an ebay mission this week. I so need to get a load of stuff listed. They is quite a few kids clothes to go, some books and CD's plus a load of my clothes which I need to decide if I want to keep or not. I've virtually got a whole wardrobe in a size too small for me (:o:o) and I need to decide if I want to keep them in the hope that I will loose weight or clear them out and get new stuff when I do. I think that I am going for the latter but Tuesday will be D-day...we'll see.
I had to laugh yesterday when I was trying to write a cheque out for DD riding lesson. I found that the start of term money drain was such that I'd used all the cheques up in my cheque book before a replacement comes through. I had to laugh although it meant I'd spent a load of dosh!
Definately think we've a surplus in the childcare account which will get paid off the debt. I think I may also have a small surplus in the joint account as well. Again this will be paid off the debt or put towards any overspending this month.
Counting the days to payday once again and looking forward to reducing the totals significantly!!Working Hard to be Debt Free - one day :A soonDFW Long Hauler 74; Mortgage overpayments MFiT-2 challenger 100Total Nov07 £36000, Sep10 £1623:o:)0 -

Sorry to hear you are laid up HTBDF - not good
I don't know much about credit reports et al I'm afraid. I checked our when we'd first had our LBM but apart from telling us which cards we'd got it didn't really tell us much. I think the amount of debt, closeness to the limit, income, savings and probably a host of other things will be taken into account when applying for a mortgage. Aside of course from how much you are borrowing and how much the house is!
I would imagine having as much savings/deposit and as little debt would be the starting point for a mortgage application.Working Hard to be Debt Free - one day :A soonDFW Long Hauler 74; Mortgage overpayments MFiT-2 challenger 100Total Nov07 £36000, Sep10 £1623:o:)0 -
