  • oh, CG you've been spending! it is easily done though.....

you can't change what you've spent but you can think about future spends eg. wash machine - i never spend more than £200 if i can help it, including delivery, fitting and removal of old one - just do a bit of research + quidco too.

re. the spends you've made - as the family is happy can you all reduce your budgets per month somewhere to help pay for it?

i hope you are all sitting at and using your dining suite every night!
  • Wow CG I feel your pain . We all do it sometimes whether it be big spends or small. Like FSM says you can cut your cloth towards putting a team effort into funding/paying for the ski trip. I am jealous I would love to do that but OH's not keen and I'm content for the while to let DD go with school. Overspending on holiday - well you are talking to an expert here!! Somehow things do bundle up and get thrown at you but just look at how far you've come. I'm sure you'd rather be in this position now than as you were when you started working towards being BF.

You've got to think positive and stay focused. As FSM says you can't change whats happened but you can stay on track....with everyone's support you can do this CG?

10lb of blackberries - thats some volume. I've definately not got that much on my trips out but I've enough to use in smoothies. Mind you pear and blackberry sounds lovely (we've pears in abundance at present from the tree in the garden - I love natures harvest :D).

I read your post and even stopped my attacking my filing mountain now theres concern for you!!

Ouch, CG! I have to admit, I am very pleased now we have closed all our CC down - no temptation for big spends.......I now put money into a "ski fund" by standing order each month. Although DS is off to France for several weeks this winter so I can't see me getting any in for myself this year

WHDFW - congrats on closing those CCs - they may have been paid off long ago, but you have taken a big step in closing them :D

  • Thanks H it certainly feels like we are moving forward in being able to close some CC's down. As I said there's one more to close down which I will do when I

  • Thanks guys, I actually feel better just for writing it down and admitting my spending! I'm back on the DF wagon now though, even doing OH sarnis for work which have slipped throughout the school hols. H I've upped my hols budget & OH is expecting a tax refund so i'm going to pay it straight off this debt when it comes through.

Well done on closing down the CCs, sounds good to me!

FSM this washer has a 1600 spin and a 8kg load - ideal for my mucky pups but it is through Quidco so I should get some cash back and yes, we are eating at our lovely table every night!

WH, thats my dirty laundry aired! You can get back to your filing now lol! cgx

  • re. the washing machine. i have to get a lower spin as 'we don't do ironing', so i need fewer creases before i dry;).

we had to go sofa shopping on sun as one of our doglets finally finished off the old one (only 7 years old - actually the sofa AND the dog:rolleyes:). we tried to get one this time that looked like it could withstand the usual methods and entries of dog-attack! although, with a 20% deposit we got it interest free over 12 months.

this is the only diary i have stuck with from the beginning as i find it both inspiring and interesting, but i read more than post. i don't know whether i have mentioned before, but we finally stopped using the credit cards last year (i do have one balance at 1.9% LOB) and only use the debit card with budgets/pots for everything. it was scary at first, but now liberating - we either save up for it, buy it, or if no cash in the 'pot' just don't buy it.

i think we all have our 'buying' moments but as long as the cash is in the pot/budget then some pleasures have to be allowed x
  • Thanks FSM I'm not sure about inspiring but it certianly helps me stay on track. I like the tip about the W/mach spinning however how does that work in the winter when you dry clothes inside (i Don't do tumble drying)?

I'm in spending temptation at present. A pair of reckless purple shoes which I do have the money for (my own spending pot) but I am reluctant to spend money at all after nearly 2 years of being uber frugal. Saturday will be D- Day when I'm in town.

Well done on your mortgage reduction. I've jointed the MFIT challenge which will keep me occupied once we are DF.......very exciting

Sold an item on ebay tonight so the pennies are stacking up in the paypal account. I need to get more ebay bits listed next week - it must happen no excuses
