Hey
Not feeling the love today but certainly not having the week that you are natlie. I hope everything sorts itself out for you - I hate when things happen, one after the other and you get no respite. I am finding work a real struggle at the moment to be honest. I feel like I am getting nothing done no matter how hard I try - the kids just have no motivation and the behaviour gets worse every single day.
MSE wise, I even blew my nsd by going for chocolate on the way home from work as well. Shameful, but at least I only have 11 more school get ups to get through before I can have a rest.
I've decided that I'm going to do the grocery shop online this week so I have a list and will go via my supermarket to get the cheapest prices.
Just trying to keep the faith! Not giving up

Morning all :hello:
Although it's still pitch black, it's raining and I can sense that it'll be one of those dreary days that doesn't get light all day. In good news it's pay day and I've got a bonus due :j:j
As I'm up with the larks I've also put the DW on and added some green peas to my yellow pea soup that's been in the sc overnight. I'll also:
Do the pay day money shuffle
Check out the turtles thread as I've not caught up this month
Take something out for tea
Put some washing away - no ironing here
Try and get last few presents this afternoon
Quick vacuum round
Tidy one small area of the house to make it look more reasonable.
Wash hair with shampoo bar
Hope those feeling poorly are feeling better today, happy Friday folks.0 -
PurpleFairy26 wrote: »Put some washing away - no ironing here

Not much of that ever happens here either Purps :rotfl:
Another horrible, dark, wet day
Have washing to do but trying to put it off till after the weekend, which is going to be a bit full on babysitting wise - I have DD1's 2 children coming to stay overnight tonight, and babysitting for DD2 almost as soon as they go back late Saturday pm
So far today I have:
Washed hair and allowed to dry naturally
Updated spreadsheet from online bank statement and spending diary. Added up how much we have spent on everything this year so far and it was :eek: and there is still Christmas and a couple of family birthdays to go!
Washed up and tidied kitchen, put recycling out etc
Put some breakable sales stock out of the way of little fingers
Written some birthday cards for kids and put money in by way of present - 16(!) year old GD would rather have money, and 1 year old GS doesn't need anything atm but I am sure will find the money handy when he is older
Doesn't sound much!
But with excited 8 and 11 year olds overnight I think I need to conserve my energy a bit :rotfl:
Still to do:
Clean bathroom
Make some jellies for GDs
Thinking about making some uncooked apple chutney, as I am short of chutney this year. I have all the ingredients, just wondering if the magimix would do the prep ok instead of getting the mincer out....
Lunch will be bits we already have in
Dinner will be baked potatoes and beans for GCs (their favourite atm apparently) and baked potatoes and some of the chilli and coleslaw I made yesterday for us
Ponder rearranging the living room....0 -
Hi December Devotees,
Afternoon!:coffee: Hauled myself out of bed a couple of hours early this afternoon before work. It's howling a hoolie out.
Debt-Free-Nillionaire Continuity Plan Year Four:
* Check online banking. Done.
* Checked DW's online banking. Done.
* Ignore texts inviting me to upgrade phone, for a fee. Done.
* I have two odd socks drying. Locate partners. This never happens. Done. No sign. Odd.
* Check loyalty points online. Done.
There are hidden blessings in every struggle.Debt-free day: 8th May 2015 "Remember that sometimes not getting what you want is a wonderful stroke of luck," Dalai Llama0 -
Hi to all,
What a dreary old day - about 30 mins of vague sunshine, the rest of the time we had torrential rain, drizzle, mizzle & hail. Cat sat on windowsill with his legs crossed looking as though the end of the world was nigh. A few useful bits of money saving today:
*A round-up of use-it-ups provided me with lunch.
*Made tomorrow's packed lunch & breakfast - another couple of use-it-ups went in that too.
*Sorted online shopping delivery & put it away.....which was when I discovered the Sainso's crisp machine is still unable to count.....two weeks running we've had 15 bags instead of the 14 it should be. Free crisps! What's not to love?!
*Cleaned house using minimal products & washable microfibre cloths.
*Used an ancient stray carrier bag as a free bin liner.
*Knit - until my dodgy tendon starts hurting too much to carry on.
*Posted 2 ebay parcels.
*Wrapped another 6 ebay sales - all recycled wrappings from my stash. I will never understand people buying stuff to wrap ebay parcels. Free materials abound.
*Resurrected a scented wax melt thingy that never gets used. Still had big wodge of wax in it. Not sure it smells of much after so long, but needless to say I'm trying it!
*Updated grocery budget & paid money from this week's shop across to CC (only used for points for vouchers).
*Frame 2 photos - not yet done. I think I can do this from frames I already have - I just can't remember where they are. I aim to have found them & done this task by bedtime or it is n danger of having to go on the 'Annoying Things' list.
*Transferred my sealed pot cash from my purse to my secret little tin. I didn't see anything I fancied in the city centre the other day, so it's better off in my tin until I've thought what I might like to buy (Our sealed pot money is always used to treat ourselves, by spending it on whatever we like, so I don't want to squander it on something ill-thought out).
*Got a pile of stuff ready for when we visit friends tomorrow, esp Christmas gifts, as this will avoid costly postage.
*Started making a food bag up for taking with us on our imminent mini-break.
Cheers all,

Remember....if you have to put it on a credit card, extend your overdraft or take out a loan to buy whatever it is, you probably can't afford it, as that's not your money, it's somebody else's!0 -
I have made it to the weekend :j
Almost into single figure school get ups but I do think that this fortnight it's going to be long.
NSD today, full day of teaching and a couple of annoying phone calls made. I will have to do a bit of work over the weekend for teaching next week but the end is almost in sight.
Got home and made a rice pudding with the last of the milk that was a good way out of date and unlikely to last another night, so that feels mse.
Still not quite in my overdraft so I've lasted 5 days longer than I did last month
small steps.
Tonight I'm snuggling with kids and cats and watching Christmassy things on telly - all very mse.Not giving up

Natlie sorry to hear uve had such a horrible week

CLF I think I would have gone into meltdown with water everywhere-glad u r getting sorted
CCL there's nothing wrong when u need some chocolate......ive eaten a selection box meant for the sports club I belong to tonight!!
Nothing much to report.
Haven't kept up with my spends book. Keep thinking it looks so daunting as I've fallen way behind
Have been checking all banking though-everything good
Have got way ahead of myself and bought presents ready for next year while they've been at a bargain price. Did this in 2017 for this year and it hasn't half made a difference in saving money and convenience, at least I know that if I'm out of action I have presents in and I reckon I've saved much more money this time round.
Made use of Amazon's free prime trial which has helped with the above
Have been doing RM survey and unaddressed survey-items to post tomorrow
DD has a new phone contract with O2. She put her account on my phone to get any of the priorities she isn't really interested in. So far have got batteries, the sharpies and chocolate coins for free.
No tree up until DD home but did put some Christmas lights DD picked up for half price in Tesc@s
Went to Tescos today. Picked up cat food tins which are still 25p cheaper than anywhere else
After I got back from being away I found that someone had hacked my mobile phone contract and ordered a top of the range iPhone which was delivered. Rang mobile phone provider straight away and they set up a security question that I had to ask them with any contact with them. My mobile phone contract frozen and with fraud department. It wasn't long before the fraudsters rang, was suspicious from the start, when the security question was dodged I put the phone down, rang mobile phone provider straight away, fraud dept confirmed it wasn't them who rang and when I started to give a description they knew of the scam straightaway. They gave me further information and help, said without a doubt fraudsters would try again. It is unnerving, mobile phone people brilliant and extra security being placed on my account to stop it being hacked again.
Sent a few Christmas cards but don't send many now due to postage costs. Also like to pop a letter in so a couple left to do.
I think that's about it. I'm sure I've done more but can't think of anything else xDecluttering challenge 2023🏅⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

Hey everyone
finally home, got madam into bed, quick tidy round and done the blinking elf on the shelf! (dd got madam it. I hadn't wanted the blinking thing but it is bringing madam so much joy. Maybe I shouldn't be such a grinch for madam!)
Not much really to report. Had breakfast and lunch from home and a colleague treated us both to Thai take out :T normally I wouldn't accept someone else paying but he's nice, I LOVE Thai food and they (the qualifieds) earn double what I do!
I did buy crisps and chocolate at an extortionate rate earlier
got soup & spag bol out of freezer for lunch & dinner tomorrow
Going to sit and watch telly & knit in a second
madam was looked after by a school friend's mum till I picked her up at 7.45 (she's my lovely friend too!)
mentioned to said lovely friend I was going to start offering tailoring to people and she gave me my first repair immediately. Simple 10 minute job! I'm torn between doing it for free as she is my lovely friend and wanting to get my first *job* in the bag!
anyway as minimal as it is it wasn't a spendy day. One more working day to go :j (third day is always the easiest)
Natalie - omg what a week you are having. Hope you're ok honDF as at 30/12/16
