    Morning folks

Big hugs to all, esp ccl xxx

Effing disaster here last night. Just after I went to bed, the toilet cistern in the en suite cracked open and flooded the kitchen and utility room. We spent an hour or so clearing up but both had a fairly rubbish night's sleep from it. Luckily there's no proper ceiling and it's floorboards upstairs so the water just poured straight through so the damage is minimal.

I've taken the morning off work to carry on sorting stuff out. I'm wiping down all the tins/jars etc and washing all of the glassware and dishes. Although it was clean water, it had obviously poured through the ceiling!

I've taken the morning off work and am currently mid-sort. I've got the dehumidifier going and the heating on to try and dry us out a bit. LA are notified and photos sent.

Considering how much this type of thing gets my knickers in a twist, I feel relatively calm about it . So much for a good night's sleep though.

The only real casualty was a packet of chia seeds #firstworldproblems

    Today's mission:
    • B/D from stores. healthy lunch for £4.00 from local small business
    • Try to clear up and make sense of the house - done
    • Wash all of the mopping up towels on 60 deg "shirts" instead of 60 deg cotton as shorter spin - done
    • Towels outside to dry for a bit - done
    • Gym after work?
    • Charge phone in work - done
    • Glass of wine saved back from bottle on Sat later
    • Might sort some Christmas cards/gift tags
    • Hopefully get a good sleep
    Blimey

    Have a good one all

    Afternoon all,
 Clf! Hope its sorted quickly for you.
Hk, glad you are doing ok .

    Todays list
 Both kids had ys bread for toast with scrambled eggs for breakfast :)
 Both kids on the school bus as I wasn't driving near to their school again :)
 Went into town to pay dh's tax rebate into the bank :) somehow entered my pin number in incorrectly 3 times so I've had to have that reset (glad I was in the bank paying in rather then taking money out!)
 Called into boots for some over the counter meds, thought of Ally and didn't buy the big brand :)
 Looked in a few clothes shops (As I don't often go into town on my own) there wasn't anything that looked nice on me and I'm in a :( mood so left my purse in my pocket and came home empty handed :)
    Checked banking/updated spreadsheet :)
 Make families lunches for tomorrow
 Try tracking app for ds2s xmas gift - I really hope it doesn't arrive at any point when ds is at home!!
 Plenty of last nights stew left, but we have a couple of extra mouths to feed so will make some dumplings pad it out a bit
 No heating on until kids are home - no point heating a whole house just for me

    Thats about it for now.

Sticking with the "Small things" thread to keep up us on the straight and narrow.

    Afternoon all :)
Crumbs CLF, what a pain  Hope it all gets sorted out soon!
Horrible day here, icy first thing, then sunny for a couple of hours, but then got really dark and damp. I had to put the light on at 2.30 because I could hardly see my hand in front of my face :(
Went out for a couple of hours this morning, thinking we might have coffee or lunch out... but had a look round a neighbouring town, had finished by 11.30 so came home for both lunch and coffee :money:
Put a load of washing out this morning but when I got it in just now, it was possibly even wetter than when it went out, so need to get that on the airer :(

Have tidied the kitchen and run the hoover round downstairs. OH has lit the stove and it is now considerably more cheery in here :)
I have checked the banks but still need to update my spending diary and spreadsheet. Also need to do a bit of business paperwork and some RM surveys stuff.
We will have pasta with rocket pesto out of the freezer for dinner, having finished up yesterday's frittata for lunch - and there is still some apple pie from the weekend left for pudding :T
Ought to think about writing some Christmas cards, and hauling the decorations from the furthest reaches of the eaves cupboard, which means climbing over (or moving) boxes of my sales stuff. I have spent slightly less than £2.80 on new (to me) decorations this year, a few tealight holders from a CS, and a fairy for the top of the tree (really for GD's benefit as she always helps me decorate it and asked last year why I didn't have a fairy). This one cost £1 from a colleague at the shop where I have my sales unit :) I won't be putting the tree up yet, as it is a live, growing one that normally lives in a big pot in the front garden. It is happier out there, and will only come in for a few days either side of Christmas to avoid it dropping too many of its needles :)
  • Evening everyone :hello:
So. I went back to work, and whilst I'm better I'm still utterly wiped out from being back - and it's parents evening tomorrow night. :(
However, it was lovely to be back in the real world and speaking to other adults and feeling useful and taking my mind off the divorce and finances.
    Plus I bagged a nsd.
CLF - absolute nightmare about your ensuite. Hope all is well now - I remember when my bathroom floor collapsed and I just felt like crying for days.
Other than that, nothing to report. Work is tough, kids are hyper and there are still 13 more school days to go
  • Morning folks

    Thanks for your kind wishes.

Hugs to those who need them x

Ran the heating most of yesterday to speed up the drying process. Still quite damp in the utility but getting there. One cupboard dry and clean and stuff back into it. Letting the top cupboard dry further before cleaning and putting away.

    Today's mission:
    • B/L/D from stores
    • Hair app. Not mse but not getting it cut to save a few pennies
    • Gym after hair I think
    • Walk home from hair dressers
    • Evening to myself so probably finish sewing in ends of scarf and have a tidy/sort

    Have a good one all

  • What?! No one other than carrie has posted today??! Hope everyone is good out there whatever you are up to!

I've not been particularly frugal today - well actually I got some gifts and oh and I had lunch together. so spendy but to be expected at this time of year....

Have tidied up the house - no mean feat. so d/s is looking almost spic and span and have a little more tidying to do before the day is out....

Have wrapped a few gifts - how comes it's so expensive when I get for so few? Jeeps I can't imagine what it costs if you're big on xmas and have a lot to get for. Still have a couple of people I need to get something for and also oh needs to come up with an idea for fil

making mustard chicken & dauphinoise potatoes for tea. Should really start prepping....

will share bath water with madam after dinner ;)

Fabric for backing of quilt came today so I will cut it down, pin it and start quilting later on

Also hope to get another 20 rounds in. That may be ambitious!

    Afternoon all :)
Haven't posted earlier as my laptop was playing up. Seems to be ok now, after a bit of fiddling about!
    So far today:
    Brown banana for breakfast
    Checked banks
Walked dog x 2 - free exercise, such as it is!
    Took items to sales unit
Posted a small ebay sale using free RM surveys stamps
    RM surveys stuff
Bits from home for lunch, though OH and I did have a coffee out earlier this afternoon - we took the dog to the groomer and didn't want to fight our way back home through the traffic and then have to set out again to pick him up after his haircut. Went to a garden centre cafe. While there I bought a nice pair of gloves for sis in law's birthday, and some cards for various family members who have birthdays during December, so what with that and paying for the dog's haircut it wasn't a NSD by any means!
I have got fish out of the freezer for dinner

This evening's job will be to get attic bedroom ready for GDs aged 11 and 8 to stay on Friday night while their parents go to a gig :)
