I understand that but my question just constantly gets ignored.
I don’t need a lecture on the technical bits as I have no clue what your talking about.
I asked if the Argos one would allow me to do what I use a laptop for then get given all this technical stuff I don’t understand do everyone confuses me.
Totally understand this value for money and trying to help me get the best but no one has given me a straight answer to my question.
All I wanted to know is would the Argos one allow me to do the simple tasks I want.
To repeat what you've already been told many times - it will perform basic tasks but it will do so relatively slowly, and it will slow down further over time.
The screen quality is fairly naff also.
So will it do your job - as has been said the answer is "yes" - on the proviso that you're happy with a slug slow machine and a potentially slightly blurry / poor quality screen.
The general advice has been either- Find one with an SSD (i and others have linked to several)
- Buy a refurbed machine
- Increase your budget and get one with a better processor, screen and a bigger SSD

My budget can’t be increased therefore that’s why it’s called a budget in the first place.0

I'd personally be buying a used laptop from a reputable used laptop supplier, whether that be ebay or otherwise (loads of sites about)
That T450 i linked to - the seller has 52,499 of feedback and is sitting at 100%. They have sold 222 of this particular model so far in this batch.

They also trade as https://www.mycheaplaptop.co.uk as well, but their ebay site seems slightly cheaper.0 -
This is a great laptop to from the same supplier- the Lenovo X240. I was using one of these in work and it was perfect. Lovely machine, not too big either.

A little bit more compact than the T450.

MarkN88, the above two thinkpads are within budget.
That argos one is a lemon. The thinkpads are older, but quick, better built and reliable.
Acer is not know for quality. Non of us here would buy that Acer, and no one here recommends it, but it is not our money.
The simple fact is that the second hand laptops above are cheaper and better. The only downside to buying the thinkpad is that it may not come in a new box that a cat can play in with Acer written on the side, and also the Acer battery life will probably be longer, though if you purchase that Acer for portability, it probably will fall to pieces.
Generally speaking the thinkpads will way outlast, and will out perform the Acer. If you do not buy mail order, your consumer rights are also less.0 -
I will take a look at those links. That’s quite impressive that seller having so many sales and 100% feedback.0
