Is this laptop SSD?

Options
Someone had a thread last week where they were advised SSD was better?

I’m after a new laptop too and wanted to ask is this one SSD?

It would say so? (and and that price you would be lucky to get 128GB).

Check the specification, for the one you've referenced it states a hard drive speed:
    Hard drive speed 5400RPM.

There's not many SSD equipped laptops for that price and if you find any, they will be low capacity like 128GB.
  • It’s called having a budget.

I use it for very basic things and was told SSD would be better but clearly can’t get that for my budget.

Why do people say SSD over HDD? Is HDD going to be alright for a laptop I just use day to day? No gaming etc.

They are faster. It makes the computer more responsive.

Yes it will be fine. Before SSDs were a thing everyone had HDDs and survived.

If you haven't used SSD before then you won't miss it, but if you have then it's a pain going back to HDD as it feels grindingly slow, particularly on start up.

For that budget I'd be looking at a refurbed business machine with a decent spec rather then a very low end consumer model from a retailer who isn't always the best at handling computer issues - maybe have a look at the Dell Outlet website.
  • Thanks for the indormation from you both that has made it clearer for me.

The thing about the Dell outlet is it says delivery can take 14 days whereas I kind of wanted to go buy it today which is why I was looking at Argos and Curry’s.

I saw another one on Argos which seems to be HDD too but was a bit higher spec with a 3.2 processor, 8gb Ram and 1tb storage for 299.99.

I take it you don't currently have a laptop or other PC?

"Buy in haste, regret at leisure" and all that. It's worth taking the time to get exactly the best laptop for your needs and money rather than just buying the first and cheapest thing from shop just so you can get it immediately.
