I officially left OFTM at midnight :j

1. I wonder if they will try and take my next regular DD even though I’m in credit and have left?

2. If they do take the DD anyone like to guess which of the many amounts they’ve told me, over the last few weeks, it will be for?

3. Any bets on how long it will take them to issue a final bill and use the DD to settle it?

  • Lucky you , but I bet they screw up your refund !
  • Well done. I leave on 19th December, assuming they don't block it. I've cancelled my DD so they can't make up an amount to take for my last payment on 9th December - my account is in credit to cover even the highest figure they made up, with credit to spare. Will be very interested to which amount they take and how long it takes to get your refund. Fingers crossed!

I hope they are quicker than Solarplicity at refunding your credit balance.
I left them on August 10th & still have not received mine !!
They tried to take a DD but I was quicker than them & had cancelled it.
Which reminds me I must chase them up for my £18.32 refund.

I gave a reading on Wednesday. The site has updated stating I am £92.89 credit. I am due a DD payment of £92.31 (their latest revised DD increase)

Should I outfox them by cancelling my DD or would this jeopardize my switch to So Energy which will complete on the 21st Dec ?

In my experience but not of OFTM they will continue to collect the direct debit until the account is closed. This is the main reason why I try to have the estimated switch day soon after the direct debit day so there is at least 3 weeks for the old supplier to close the account before the direct debit is due. However 3 weeks might not be long enough depending on the old supplier.

In answer to your numbered questions:

    1. This may depend on when your next monthly payment was due.
e.g. if it was due today, it will almost certainly still be collected on Monday (and may even already show on your online banking)
You should allow for at least one collection now you have left, which will then be included in your final bill

    2. They can only collect the amount stated in the last communication to you for the date in question. Any attempt to collect any other amount would be a breach of the terms of the Direct Debit Scheme, and you would then be fully proetcted by the Direct Debit Guarantee.

    3. The final bill should normally be made available to you within 6 weeks of you having actually left their supply.

    HTH :)

I would not recommend you cancel your DDI, especially as you are still being supplied by the supplier in question.

If you do wish to cancel the DDI, Iwould urge you to first contact the supplier to discuss this.

So again, as I am already in credit by £92 and leaving, there is no need for them to take another £92 from my account on the 5th so:

Am I safe to cancel my DD ?

Good question, I wonder the same, and would me cancelling cause a missed DD on my record?
