    Day 10/31, £69.16 in kitty, 4 NSD's

Husband asked me what I was doing on here yesterday. Told him I was trying to keep track of my money and pay more off the CC to get rid of it sooner rather than later. I'm not pressing him on the CC matter. We may need to get our hands on some cash fairly quickly in the next few months but I'm thinking if I can get it down to £1k he'd be more willing to release that amount of money so I'm going to give it my best shot. Not really sure how feasible that is but I can only give it my best shot. The sooner the CC has gone the sooner we'll be £80 better off in the joint account and I'll be £45 better off with my personal money.

I need to pick up some bread today but it's coming out of the shopping money so I think I may be heading for another NSD.

Hope you all have a good Monday. :)
  • Those NSDs are really adding up, think I need to keep track of mine.

You're really focussed and I know you'll get that 1k smashed off the credit card. Once Christmas out the way I'm full steam ahead trying to clear the 3.5k on ours. It needs to be gone by 1/12/19 so I need to get a wiggle on

  • Had a spendy day Saturday at a lovely Christmas market and enjoyed every penny. It was so nice to do something as a family, although went over the budget because of DD new hat and a large bag of pork stratchings.

Did a food shop on way home and managed to cut back a bit, but still stocked up on loads of fruit and veg. Need to keep loaded us all up to avoid the winter bugs.

Sunday was a NSD and today is just the postage for a Christmas parcel to my bestie.

I hope I can get rid of £1k Choccygirl but there's only so much 'spare' money I have :o I'm determined to pay as much off as I can though. You sound pretty determined yourself. I think not adding to your debt is brilliant when you've done so much over the year and you've also been off work.

NSD's aren't too hard for me really but when I do go shopping I tend to spend money like water :( But that's the point of being on here, to keep myself in check.

I love family days out. They don't happen as much here as they used to do but that makes them all the more special when they do.

I'll be cheering you on throughout 2019. Hopefully this time next year, we'll both be patting each other on the back. :T

Well, the loaf of bread turned into a £15 spend  but it was shopping money and means the big weekly shop won't be as much so it's not really an extra expense.

I've even managed to save £4.40 by comparing prices between 2 stores I go to. I do this every week but never total up the money, something else that'll change from now on because it'll be interesting to see what I save and keeping things interesting will hopefully keep me motivated. I'm not sure if this money will actually be spare, it'll depend on whether I need any extras in the week but I'm hoping there might be some left over at the end of every month to pay towards the CC.

So, I'm finishing the day with what I started with again :T and now have 5 NSD's under my belt. :D
  • Sounds like you did well Teafor2 even if you spent more than planned

  • Hi tea

Just wondering if you have any spare bits you don't want anymore that you could pop on eBay to make some extra pennies to throw at your cc to help get it down quicker? Maybe one of your DC could help you list it if you don't like technology. Take care x

Hi Reflecting, thanks for popping in. I don't really have anything for Ebay, I'm quite minimalistic regarding 'stuff', I can't be doing with the clutter :D Any bits I do have are usually books or cheapish home decor items I buy just for a change every now and then, which I pass on to the charity shop. I could start buying the books from charity I suppose, I've never looked at the price of them but I usually just go for the 3 for £5 rubbish reads so I'd have to see how much they were. Some CS are quite expensive these days aren't they.

    So it's day 11/31, £69.16, 5 x NSD's

It's shopping day but apart from food I don't think I need anything. It's not even my turn to pay for the coffees :T
  • Hi Tea

I joined the Greater Manchester library when I was staying with my mum and they have a huge range of books, audio books, magazines and newspapers. I access it from here in Spain so it is saving me loads. Could you do the same? Yes, mum is in Rochdale, near the wonderful B--- town market!

I am on UK countdown - I fly back at 10pm on Monday. So I am eating up the contents of the fridge. I am going to stock up with some basics that have no shelf life so I haven't got to shop for much when I get back.

    NSDs are addictive, aren't they?

When you compare prices, do you use mysupermarket? I always found it useful to have a "master" shopping list with all our regulars so it would show where the bargains were to be had.

    Have a good day

We have a lovely library near to us Pauline, which I should use more often, I could definitely start doing that in the NY. Used to go loads when the children were little, just need to get back into the habit.

Rochdale isn't far from us, it's a small world isn't it. :) Are you just home for Christmas?

The NSD's are addictive. Unfortunately, I won't be able to add another one to the total today - back later on the update my money after I've tallied it all up. ;)

I don't use mysupermarket because there are just 2 main stores I use that are easy to get to so I just compare the prices between these. I can often save up to £5 a week doing this so it'll be interesting to see what I can save over the month/quarter/year.
