Thanks Wannabe. I've nothing much planned but that might mean I don't spend too much :D

    Day 8/31, 71.52 in the kitty. 3 NSD's.

The only thing I'm doing today is going shopping for the foodbank donation.

Mum has put some money into my account for the DC for Christmas so I need to get that out while I'm there so I don't get muddled up.

I've absolutely nothing left to buy for Christmas now apart from the food shop so I just need to hang on to my money as best I can.

Mum gave me some Christmas money and I've bought Baileys, slippers and a DVD with it. I also get some money from another family member. I could do with a couple of tops for slouching around the house in so I'll probably use it for that rather than dipping into mine. Waiting for the sales though. ;)

Hope you all have a nice Saturday :)

Wannabe, why do I feel we live in the same area. I'm a Greater Manchester girl, approx 6 miles from the city centre which covers a huge area I know :D It might be something I read on your diary ages ago or maybe I've got you mixed up with somebody else. Don't feel you have to reply to this just needed to get it off my chest.

Today has been a good day. We put a few decs up and lit some candles. Christmas is all about candles for me. I'm not doing the tree just yet, maybe in the week. Also went shopping and spent £7.96 for the food bank. Hubby isn't well. I'd like to say it's man flu but he's really quite poorly so better be more sympathetic.:rotfl: Bought some medicinal stuff and tissues for him which came to £5.60. Normally would have stood the cost of this but I've transferred money over from joint account. I've also sorted the DC's money out from Mum so I'm all straight.

Weekends are generally quieter than the weeks here so I tend not to spend too much but what I did spend today was totally worth it.

    B/f £71.52
    Foodbank £7.96
    Total left £69.16
  • I agree with ES, you do sound such a nice person!

You said you thought it hadn't been a good idea to start your spending diary this month but I disagree, I think it has been so worthwhile to see where your spending goes as soon as it becomes an issue for you.

It sounds a lot of personal spending money each month but you are now seeing that actually it isn't all on you. In fact I would suggest that you should work out at the end of the month what percentage is directly fo you and what is for the family. Perhaps you should actually think you have 120 instead but I think you will find you have even less than that.

Have a lovely Sunday, take care

Oh thank you Pauline, what a lovely thing to say. I think you're right, even though I start with £240 a lot of it hasn't been going on me. I don't mind to a certain extent but I'm going to make a concerted effort to allocate things differently in the future.

December was never going to be a true account of what I spend but I'm really glad I started the diary. It's getting me into the habit of keeping receipts and writing things down and most importantly thinking about things in a different light. I may have gone a bit out of kilter with double accounting for the coffees but I won't do that again. :o

Hope you've had a good day and enjoy the rest of your weekend. :)

I'm a bit further out from the city centre than you. The B town is my local town. The rougher side of the city :p

    Quite local though I guess?

Does the B town have a market that's well known for a certain thing. I've never given a thought to the rough vs. not rough side of the city debate but I guess I'm on the rough side as well now I'm thinking about it :rotfl: x

    Day 9/31, £69.16 in the kitty, NSD's x 3

    Morning Everybody

Off to church soon. It's not a weekly event but I try my best :) Apart from the £5 for the collection I can't see me having to open my purse again today.

Being extremely positive I've been thinking what to do with any money I might have left over at the end of the month. A long way to go I know but I can live in hopes. I'm thinking I should split it 3 ways. 1\3 into my savings pots, 1/3 off the CC and 1/3 carried over to add to my spends. I don't think there'll be much but every bit will help.

    Have a great day. :)

You're a bit further from me than I thought Wannabe which is a shame. If it was the other B we could have met up for a brew at some point, although the distance doesn't make it totally out of the question :)

For some reason there wasn't a collection at church this morning so it's been another NSD which makes 4 so far. I don't think that's bad out of 9 days although obviously when I do spend I do it in style :D

The house is a tip. Always is when I'm putting the decs up and the fact I'm taking ages to do it isn't helping. I think I might get the tree up tomorrow so I can get the stuff off the floor. I wanted to leave it a bit longer but the mess is driving me crackers.

I'm ending today still with £69.16 in my purse. Bet the vicar is wondering where all his money is though :rotfl:
