  • Hello teafor2, I read the first two pages of your thread with interest/amusement and then fast-forwarded to today so forgive me if someone else has already suggested this on the intervening 31 pages of posts, but why haven't you taken out a 0% balance transfer credit card and transferred your credit card debt to that to save yourself paying any more interest?

Hi AngelicKaty and welcome.:) The CC is one I've had for over 20 years and used on and off, but I don't work any more and for some reason a lack of wages seems to have an impact on whether I can get a better deal or not, which I must admit is a little inconsiderate of lenders and very inconvenient for my purse at times :rotfl: My aim is to get it down to £1,000 then borrow the rest from savings although whether this will happen or not I don't know, for the reasons below.

I know CC's are a big no-no on MSE but I am paying it off :T Over the past 3 months we've had to to pay out nearly £5k on some annual household bills which save us money in the long run, but which sadly also included my MIL's funeral expenses. We had the cash to do this, so although I'm paying interest on the CC at this moment in time it's better for us to keep hold of the cash we have left as we're still in the process of sorting things like MIL's care fees out etc. so might need to get our hands on some money.

I know that won't make sense to a lot of people but it's just the way it is for now, although fingers crossed not for too much longer. xx
  • Well done on all the smiley faces on your chart, it must be very motivating :T.

I agree that reading about daily normal events helps to keep us connected and feel like we know each other. I always find the mundane stuff very interesting, but maybe I'm a bit weird :rotfl:.

Well if you're weird so am I HHD because I like the mundane stuff as well. :D The facts and figures are interesting but I like reading what people do with their money, what their aims are and also how different we all are with what we're prepared or not prepared to give up for the greater good. ;)

Most of all I love the help, advice and support everybody gives to each other without passing judgement. xx

    Day 6/31, NSD's 3/15, Prolific £3.90 cleared, £2 pending, Cash for 1st-7th March £14.90

Had a nice survey today, the first in quite a while so when that's cleared I'll be cashing out. Also went to the hairdressers for a wash and cut which was £16. I allocate £20 per cut so I've put £2 into the charity pot and £2 into the caravan pot. I'm classing this as a NSD because the money for the hairdressers had already been saved up. :A

I've had a count up of my CC payments and since I started properly making a note of everything on 1st January I've paid £430 off so I've added another 4 smiley faces to my chart. xx

Fantastic payments so far this year and fantastic that youd saved up 6our hair costs in advance (plus using the change to add to your pots). You are winning!

I haven't been on PA for over a week - motivation is low...must get back to checking it. Got to be in it to win it, after all!

Thanks HG - the hairdressers is easy to save up for as I don't faff with my hair - I'm in and out in 30 minutes, wash, cut and gone. :rotfl:

PA is so slow but the £2 yesterday has taken me over my new £5 cash out target :T Actually, I'd have missed it but hubby was using the laptop and said something had popped up. I think if you're working on a laptop all day it's probably better as you can see them coming in.

    Have a lovely day. xx

    Morning Everybody :)

    Day 7/31, NSD's 3/15, Prolific £3.90 cleared, £2 pending, Cash for 1st-7th March £14.90

Visiting a relative today and will be taking a small box of choccies so it won't be a NSD.

I was thinking about my pots last night, as one does :rotfl: and decided as I'm not actually saving up for anything that I'd use the savings to get the theatre tickets paid off and the money back into the account. When I told hubby to watch out for it going in he told me not to bother and to have a treat :)

So, the theatre pot will be off the list tomorrow. I'll be putting the money from there into the caravan pot and my savings pot will still be intact. Maybe I should have paid some of the CC but in the interests of honesty, I just didn't want to :o

We have parents evening tonight - can't say I enjoy it. We have to queue for several different subjects and have a time limit of 3 minutes for each one. TBH we don't even need that. I can tell you now exactly what they'll say. He's a little bit quiet but apart from that absolutely no problems. Ah well, at least we're showing willing.

Have a great day everybody. xx
