one of the reasons I prep is because I live with and support my 2 adult autistic children, and their limited diets. Compared with many they manage a reasonable diet, but compared with me it is extremely limited. Its hit and miss trying new foods, but we often have to find new lines as manufactures change the recipes of much loved products. But even none food stuff, like toilet roll, I but in bulk, because there is only one brand they cope with the texture/scent of! It paid off at start of covid lockdown as i had none of the toilet roll panic that seemed to set in everywhere! Bland and beige is the normal for them, although daughter will eat overcooked broccoli and son had ketchup (only heinz) with everything!
The disadvantage is all my lovely home grown produce, and lovingly made into jams/chutneys/soups etc by me get completely ignored! I am going to take to trading with friends and family for stuff they do like, and it always make great gifts for birthdays and christmas! Its also becoming more noticeable with the recent price hikes, because i start my online delivery from list of favourites and everything has gone up, whereas i buy from offers for myself! But if one of their likes is on offer i am able to stock up.
my second eldest son has a diagnosis of borderline personality disorder, but i think its more likely to be autism, he would prefer to be different to his younger siblings and refuses to accept the diagnosis! my eldest is also definitely on spectrum as well, but he manages to work and have friends and have a varied diet! (a lot of my wider family are autistic either diagnosed or living with noticeable issues but older and not fussed )10 -
Lidl sell a ketchup, called Batts I think. It is the only one that I personally think tastes the same as heinz, and a fraction of the price. The others are all too vinegary for me!
Feeling grateful for the warmer weather this last week. I wasn't able to enjoy it this weekend due to a stomach bug (boooo!), but our gas consumption this week is a third of what it was the week before. I turned the thermostat down a degree without hubby noticing, and with the lovely sun doing its job, its still reach over 22 in here most days!!February wins: Theatre tickets7 -
Grace68 - during the World War II, Heinz published its recipe. And there are several copy cat recipes online. I wonder if making your own and putting it in Heinz bottles would work. Trying to figure out how to make my own H*t pockets and if it would work for the three I live with, 2 of whom seem to live on those and pizzas. One roommate, who has autism, wouldn't eat the pizza rolls she normally does because there was an odd number of them - oh my. She depresses me sometimes pointing out all the things she won't eat and then walking away, not eating anything till later. You can't win.7

I've looked after the same group of people with autism for nearly 18 years....you have to respect their routines...if you do it creates a solid bond..as a carer you have to be objective/ assertive around safety issues...it can also be very stressful supporting service users in the community.....bought a top end refurbished phone last week ..just over 400 pound tried the camera today shadow on the lens...thankfully they are changing it....been buying a few tins to add to my prep cupboard....take care in thse troubled times10

(a lot of my wider family are autistic either diagnosed or living with noticeable issues but older and not fussed )One thing I will say is if your 2nd eldest does prove to have BPD rather than be somewhere on the Specrrum it isn't always as feaful as it sounded. As I mentioned she put all her difficlulties in and searched showed are GP and he got the wheels in motion. Years until the diagnosis was confirmed while she was blaming herself for not being normal like her sisters and attacked herself. The confirmation after many years brought a wonderful young counseller who over a very long period of two weekly appts helped he open . look at and find soutions to all those locked boxes in her head and move forward. She taught her coping methoda and how to slilence what she called the parrot in her head telling her she was fat , useless and hopeless none of which was true.It took a long time but she got the chance to be who she was meant to be. The odd meltdown in the eraly times and I had to keep an eye on her eating for a while after both bulimia and anorexia. She's eating normally and healthily now and there has only be a few meltdowns.Due to physical health problems she's on strong medication and struggles to sleep at times. She's ECV and has a history from the dark times of Overwhelming Anxiety and Agoraphobia. She has had lots of counselling for that and when our GP phoned 2 years ago Stay indoors I'll phone back later that threw her.Agoaphobia came back but the nurse was coming reguarly to do her regular blood and asthma checks at home rather than the surgery. Recently she's had real rather than virtual appts with consultants and other Health professionals one at a hospital over 20 miles away.I was horrified when I read up about BPD hadn't known about Acting in or Acting out. She was acting in so damaging and blaming herself.I would say anyone who suspects they or someone else near them may have be BPD should look into it.I appreciate not everyone has an outstanding GP who has been at her side for over 20 years for both physical and mental heath.I think she'd have left the world years ago like some of her noline friends who had very little support.I believe in following your insticts even with something .Major or minor phsyical or mental most things can be managed with the right help and support.pollyxIt is better to light a single candle than to curse the darkness.

Hope you enjoy your phone when the replacement arrives.Stay well and make sure you look after you as well as everyone else'I've begun to wonder if I've mansged to lose the plot. Struggled to get sleep last night arthritis and fibro flare giving me a kicking. Decided to write a shopping list.Painkillers fianlly sent me to sleep for a while . Yesterday we were hearing about one of the posters over on the Garden Fence threads dds Arnie watching hamster. When I finally got some sleep and woke up late I was dreaming.I was trawling all thops looking for a hamster. Not just a normal hamster but one in tin! I began to think I was going too far with this prepping lark.Never wanted to eat a hamster even if it was in a tin.I'm blaming the Man U team. Stupid money thet aren't earning then there's Harry Maguire most expensive player ever.Good at the start but not for a long while. Shocked he's been selected for the England squad.I have a cunning plan a la Baldrick. "Never give up" Fergie in a rainproof recliiner in charge on the touchline. He'd make them earn every single penny or get rid.pollyx

I myself am not fond of tinned hamster. I find it loses the essential flavour. I always roast my own hamsters from scratch.

The food of the Gods.iTinned goods can be useful should one require a quick and tasty meal meal having heard a man in a hard hat dreeed to resemble a working man in the hope he will pass as one of the boys is headed in your direction or the owner of the "Only Haunted Freezer in Scotland" has decided to pay you a visit. You can recognise her because she'll be carrying a large roasting tin containing a large blunt pbject and a copy of Mary Berrys New book of Meat Cookery. . Pre prepped finely shredded kale can be a life saver in those circumstances. takes just a few minutes to steam. it has a similar effect as Garlic on a vampire.pollyxIt is better to light a single candle than to curse the darkness.
