Sorry to hear your news, @wondercollie. Make a huge fuss today with lots of treats and tell him about all the lovely dogs he's going to meet! I remember MrsLurcherwalker and others telling us when it was their dogs' time. Always a sad time, but good memories of them just around the corner.2025 Fashion on the ration

So sorry wondercollie. My dog crossed the Rainbow Bridge in February and I still miss her. I put some pictures of her on my desktop so I can look at them when I feel the need. Just give yourself time to grieve. And keep the happy memories you had with your dog.9

This morning I did a proper freezer sort out. The freezer part of the fridge freezer now contains all our meat and any bulk cooked foods (roasted veg/soups/sauces/curry/chilli) and a few bits of veg to fill the gaps. The medium chest freezer in the garage is now purely bread, veg and fruit (mainly courgettes and runner beans from the allotment but they'll all get used). At least if we do get any power cuts I can still get veg and bread out for meals without risking the meat. Also if the fridge freezer dies I'll find out fairly quickly as it's in the kitchen as apposed to the garage freezer where I might not notice if for a few days.
When we moved here we cut down a lot of trees and big bushes, everything that could be cut up for firewood was stacked and it's now time to deal with it all. So today has seen 2 pallets being used as sides, some long timbers from our neighbour (taking out from under his decking) used as a base and top supports and some pallet wood stripped to form the floor of a new extra large wood store. I've got some old pond liner to attach over the top. I can start chopping and stacking the trunks and branches now and they can be brought down to be split as the other wood stores empty. Once we've used it all up the store can be dismantled and chopped up for the fire too...win win.

Wondercollie I'm so sorry. But I hope it helps that you can give him the best time possible beforehandIt doesn't matter if you are a glass half full or half empty sort of person. Keep it topped up! Cheers!9
