You're fine as you are M'friend, short sighted's R' us! well I count me and my reading glasses in on that too! sadly one of the side effects of being older isn't it?10

The trouble with wearing glasses and a mask at the same time is that the glasses tend to mist up!16

There had to be some benefit to being a glasses wearer during this pandemic! Lol
Thanks for the suggestion regarding kuhn rikon knives for kids. Got a set for DD and they are fab. She is soooo happy with them, and proud of herself for chopping cucumber etc. A real boost for her.
Have been busy in the kitchen today. Haven't had a restaurant meal in well over a year, and saw a video of a chef making a chicken burger from scratch and that set me off! Made the burger buns with DD, brined the chicken, then coated in breadcrumbs and fried. Was absolutely delicious! A real, real treat! A lot of effort, but well worth it!February wins: Theatre tickets13 -
DH furloughed again but part time this time urghh here we go again! I'm so fed up of the up and down of this all, I am sure the rest of the country is also feeling like this and I am greatful for what we have but urghh!!! In an attempt to regain some control of my life I am clearing the house right out, I watched a fascinating programme about minimalism on Netflix, I am aiming for minimalism with anything that isn't useful, I seem to spend my life just moving things from one place to another in this house. I want to get the house to a stage where if we decide to escape and take a family gap year in the future we can and everything fit in one storage unit. It's my happy thought and the moment and gives me something to focus on. I am now back at work although I only ever worked part time, I am now at working from home but a little each day and weekends as DS is home for school at the moment and it's impossible doing both work and school in the day, how anyone who works full time does it I've no idea, I've told DH he is to take the boys outside to play and ditch school when he's home for furloughed part hours, depending what borris says tomorrow, I should think they will be going back in the next couple of weeks and I need DS1 to be in a better head space before school return, he is only 5 and been asking if so and so is dead when we look someone up or he sees a picture of someone on in a book or on TV despite us trying to shield him it's impossible. I'm also prepping for lockdown baby being one in a few weeks time!!!17

Last time with DKA I had kidney failure and was so dehydrated I was forced to drink potassium rather than have it via IV because my veins had collapsed. It tasted like poison and was incredibly painful given the acid burns from throwing up, wouldn’t wish that on anyone. So as a distraction I decided to get the surgicals out and give double masking a try, and guess what, no glasses fog at all 8-) Plus it wasn’t noticeably harder to breathe than with a single mask, would be fine for supermarket trips etc, go get those yellowstickers for those of use who can’t x15

That is a valuable piece of knowledge to pass on DryTheRain and very useful to know as this beginning of easing emerges across the nation. We have invested in some of the silicone frames that fit across nose and mouth under the mask to hold it away from them when you breathe, something I find very unpleasant is the mask coming back and touching my face as I breathe in. The ones we found online have little dots of 'velcro' like places on various points of the frame and it sticks to the material of the mask making it very much more stable and less likely to move or slip down and we've also found some masks with a moisture resistant outer surface that we can use them with for a tiny bit more peace of mind as much as anyone can have given the circumstances. We're all going to have to learn to live life again when this is ended aren't we? I wonder how long it's going to take for those of us who have been at home and shielding to have the confidence and courage to actually mix again with other people and do ordinary everyday things like get on a bus or go into the shops, I'm sure we'll get there eventually but the first few times are going to be fraught aren't they?12

I wonder about the same thing. My consultant has warned me over and over again that I must do everything I can to avoid covid as blood cancer is such a high risk and I have two other health issues that also come under the need to shield banner. I have no idea where I'm going to get the courage from to walk amongst people again in an open space let alone go into shops and other venues.

The difference between a misfortune and a calamity is this: If Gladstone fell jnto the Thames it would be a misfortune. But if someone dragged him out again, that would be a calamity - Benjamin Disreali18 -
Really pleasing information on the lunchtime news that in Scotland the Pfizer vaccine is 84% effective after 4 weeks and the Astra Zeneca is 95% effective after 4 weeks and that in the vaccinated group the numbers needing to be hospitalised and the severity of the disease after catching covid are very much down too. We owe the science community a very great deal for getting these vaccines formulated, tested, approved and manufactured and we owe the NHS very big time for rolling out the vaccination programme so smoothly and safely too, we also owe the government for funding and facilitating the vaccine too. Perhaps there will be a future after all and just perhaps it won't be quite as daunting as it could have been.13

I have mentioned this before on someone's thread. I use breast pads as a filter in cloth masks. Working on the theory that what keeps moisture in must also keep it out the upside is that providing you breath through the mouth and not the nose this also stops glasses misting. I also find them soft to the face. All that clutter used to be money19
