I've been using hand gel for years, originally due to less than adequate public loos on UK holidays, then in the last decade for work, just being on the safe side between clients, although it can never substitute for a good hand wash with soap where proper facilities exist. And I haven't touched a lift button or similar in years and years.I do wonder though whether there will be a sudden increase in ordinary colds etc when this is all over, as the natural buildup of immunities from brief contact with others must have diminished a bit with all the hygiene measures.
Despite our best efforts and the measures the pub put in place, a couple of days later we both came down with colds and that's the only place I can think of that we could both have picked it up at the same time.
Brought it home to me how easy it is for this virus to spread.19 -

GP started shifting her away from the waiting room when parents were turning up with children obviously with Norovirus throwing up and running in and out of the loo to prove it. They keep the disabled tiolet locked and if you haven't got a Radar key you don't get in. It surprises me how many people don't take care. We've seen children with german measles running round the waiting room and some obviously pregnant patients sitting there. There will have been others not yet noticably pregnant and it makes my blood boil that people don't seem to care.Writing that I'm beginning to wonder if Superdoc moved her away to stop me self combusting. When I was a child public toilets were mainly outside apart from some nice clean ones in big stores.. I hated dirty public toilets and did everything to avoid them. When I was expecting my son he was quickly identified as breeched. I was lucky to be referred to the top maternity hospital in the region but it involved travelling 23 miles on a bus. Each time I visited they'd turn him and then he'd turn again so loads of trips to the hospital. No idea how but I somehow trained bladder and bowel not to need the loo. He was born - still fully breeched- in the summer of 1970 . The winter of 69 was a very bad one and I'd be trawling up a long steep hill to the hospital knee deep in the snow. still not longing for the loo. It's been a source of much wonder to the now adult 4 offspring and at times spooks them. I did use the nice clean hospital loos as I was kept in for four weeks after the birth. We've travelled around , had long days out and I've always been the one standing tapping my foot at flower shows, beauty spots and even sitting watching massive waterfalls in Scotland and Cumbria while various offspring queue for the loos. If I could figure out how I do it I'd probably make a fortune. I'm 72 now and my friends and family are desperate to know the secret.. I tell them willpower.I must confess I haven't used a lift since the beginning of March but when we did a good poke form my little umbrella dealt with the buttons.pollyxIt is better to light a single candle than to curse the darkness.

Ocado have said that there might be shortages of some product lines as manufacturers are making changes to deal with sickness/self-isolation.DD had an item substituted today, original item was 600g for around £3, substituted with a 300g pack for same price (S/bobs.) I am not convinced that's a valid sub when you end up paying the same price for half the amount but she's way too busy to check her invoice to see what's happened so I'll just have to remain curious!,Excellent willpower Polly x

Serendipitious Up until this point I have always received an e-mail from Sainsburys advising they have issued a credit amount for the overcharged account, you can then click somethings like "apply voucher" and apply to your shop, they usually have quite a long life too.The best thing about the future is that it comes one day at a time. I wouldn't think 300g of the same item for the price of double the amount is a valid sub. Two 300g yes but not 50%. The worlds gone mad.pollyxIt is better to light a single candle than to curse the darkness.

You get a voucher for the difference which you can use on your next order, and they email you to tell you this. The vouchers are valid I think for about six months. One life - your life - live it!13

I am not anti-vaccine. Blimey, if i were offered it today (and it didn't impact anyone more in need) i'd have it; i'd willingly take part in any trial. What i don't like is government manipulation to make themselves look better (IMO) at the risk of, for example, my 88 year old MiL (who has only had the first dose) being ill when she needn't have been because they are now making her wait for the second. Ditto my Sister, sister in law and niece who are all nurses and now may not have full protection.
Edited to add ,I just did a quick google and it came up as the Daily Fail, the nurse who asked not to be identified was working in wales at the time, I don't trust the Daily Fail so you can make of it what you wantOriginal Debt Owed Jan 18 = £17,630 Paid To Date = £6,510 Owed = £11,12011 -
Mr S does give vouchers for a sub costing more but In this case it wouldn't qualify because this sub was the same price even though half the quantity. I have been caught out by this before so I untick the sub boxes .All that clutter used to be money12
