We only moved here a couple of years ago Helebore so we are recent blow ins. We moved from the south east as we wanted a smallholding and there was no chance of that on our budget in the home counties. Wish we made the move years ago as we love it here.
I have just looked up crowdfarming thriftwizard and it looks really interesting!18 -
Well, we collected the car and it is working. Dropped MILs car back to her and exchanged presents on the doorstep at the same time. And collected the meat hamper, which looks beautiful. It was pretty late in the day when I arrived and it was blissfully quiet in there. I think they do a steady trade, but they are a bit out of the way so don't get swamped.
Main roads weren't too bad, but the local roads by the supermarkets were murder. They were queuing up to get into the car park for at least 2 supermarkets here. Pleased to report that Mr T delivery was on time, with minimal substitutions and they were acceptable. Even had eggs for neighbour, less than originally ordered, so between that and milk and more, she has enough.
The only thing left I need to collect is my repeat script. I did try yesterday but it was a 45 minute wait to fill it, so I said I'd go back this morning. Not hanging around unnecessarily.
One thing I did get in Boots though, which is a prep I'd never previously thought of, is a temp filling kit. Just something to cover the hole if the temp one that dentist put in falls out between now and May. Especially if anything happened over the Xmas days, when it will be pretty impossible to get an appointment.February wins: Theatre tickets17 -
I have those temp filling kits. My filling at the back of my front tooth fell out 2 days after the start of lockdown 1. Because it's in a strange place, I've had no end of trouble getting it to stop in.
I eventually managed to get into the dentist about three weeks ago and got told off because of how I had to wedge it in. I've moved my front tooth. I was a bit miffed because I told them I couldn't do it when it first fell out and they were doing emergencies only.
Once they are in, they stick quite well. Think they would be better in molars so you can push them in properly.
ps I had more stuck under my fingernail than in my teeth - the goo wouldn't let go of me.19 -
DH lost a filling and then broke a bit off a tooth during the first lockdown and did get those repair kits but wasn't impressed with them.
I had a crown come off a few weeks ago and got it put back within a couple of days. The dentist said it was important to put them back as soon as possible. I think he said the bit of tooth left might move slightly so makes it harder to put them back.15 -
Well my problematic tooth is at the top and very back, and the hole is at the back of it. So, any attempt by me shouldn't push any other teeth out of place, if that makes sense. It is always important to get fixed properly but the earliest appointment they have for that is May. And my niece had an abscess during first lockdown and had real issues getting a dentist to help her. She was in agony and the dentist she was registered with by her uni refused to see her, told her to keep taking painkillers instead. She only managed to get to see a dentist because my sisters usual dentist, in her hometown, agreed to see her as an emergency. He wasn't best pleased with the attitude of the first dentist. As with all professions, there are good and bad, and some dentists will be busier than others.February wins: Theatre tickets18

Narrow escape last night as the brook over the road flooded and came within a couple of feet of the house, right across the road to almost the Kerb in front of us. Manic time getting dry stores upstairs to the study from the store downstairs (we're an upside down house) and getting all moveable furniture stood upon beds off the floor. The rain finally stopped just around 10 last night and the water slowly subsided but the whole of the village high street was under water and sadly some of the lower lying houses so people had to evacuate. What an abysmal thing to have happened after the year we've had already, I count us blessed that the water didn't quite reach us we are very, very lucky. Will be looking today to see if we can do or give anything to help folks whose homes aren't liveable, my heart breaks for them!19

Boazu I am glad your place is ok. Like you say it is awful timing on top of everything else. I felt so bad when I could hear the rain continuing into the night. There are some places near us badly effected and many roads are flooded. We are lucky to be on higher ground.
Thanks Karmacat! I am so glad we did it but its lots of hard work on top of our already busy jobs. I have to admit I have had fleeting moments where I have thought why didn't we just get a nice house with a big garden instead of a rundown house (that we can't afford to renovate) with land!
Its really suited to semi retirement when i hope to have a bit more time to smell the Roses. Until then I am trying to chill out about all the weeds growing around me. Perfect is boring after all!

Oh Boazu! I'm glad your house is OK, and so sorry for those who weren't so lucky. It is rotten to happen at any time, but this year and so close to Christmas must feel absolutely awful!!February wins: Theatre tickets18

Oh Baggins 11 am envious! I left Hereford when I was 17, couldn't wait to get away! Usual at that age I guess but Hereford was a dive for me then! Shame! All the flooding! Am sure it wasn't like that, I only really remember the belmont roundabout flooding and obviously the Wye under the old bridge getting v high! Not so much the new bridge!14
